It should scrape you into a game of HL2 / CSS, but youd be talking 800x600 with everything on low for a decent frame rate. The onboard graphics is basically a very cut down X300 card. If youre serious at all about playing games it really just wont cut it.

If you're a total noobie best to just get an IDE drive and save yourself some trouble when installing windows. Serial-ATA cables are rubbish too and always work loose.

im a little low on the old funds so im kinda going budget gamer :) (yes i do know ders no such thing as gaming on a budget!). would i be better off getting a skt939 agp mobo and stick in a 9600pro or something of the likes?

I'd push for a 9800 pro if you can afford it. 2nd hand ones should be all over the place now for quite cheap. (try the for sale forum and ebay...though you may have to wait a bit to get one cheap, it will be worth it).

Having said that, if you intend upgrading when you have a bit more cash, then you should avoid AGP now IMO.

    Have you a total budget?

Post your budget, and the parts that you need, and I'm sure the boardsters will steer you in the right direction.
