PCI-EX16 & PCI-EX1 slots?

    What's the difference between PCI-EX16 & PCI-EX1 slots? I know the PCI-EX16 slots are used for graphics cards like my own Leadtek 6600GT but could I theoretically use the PCI-EX1 slot for my graphics card? :confused:

    pci-ex is 16 times faster then pci-ex1 is what i always took from the names

    like agp 4x/8x - 8x is faster...

    Just found out PCI-EX1 is the replacement for PCI. I think you can get a PCI-EX1 network card and maybe a sound card.

    My mobo has 3 PCI-Express1 connection and a single PCI-Express1 connection.

    The single speed version is about 25% the size of the 16 speed version and is not intended for graphics...but if a PCI can handle some sort of graphics I see no reason why something far faster cant.

    The single speed connections are intended for Gigabit NIC's as well as Firewire and SATA adapters..etc.
    Modems wont be around for much longer and in time mabye Soundcards might make use of a single speed connection...who knows.
