ok, don't want this to turn into a mac v pc warfare....

i've been working in web design a good few years now.

i've used a pc with the exception of a few months with a mac, which i thought was grand.

we're getting new pc's in work, and was asked if i'd like a mac..... i'm happy enough to stick with pc, unless somone can convince me otherwise.

it's years since i've used one, does the mouse still have one button, are they faster?

I've always heard that Macs are superior to PC's for media work...get a Mac G5 or something.

If you're doing a lot of x-platform development - CSS & XHTML then I recommend both... if it's just for photoshop / fireworks then it's half a dozen of 1 and 6 of the other...

At least test the design on a mac (or at least another browser other than IE6)... I've just seen too many designers design it for IE6 and then it doesn't work properly in anything else...

Pc, there are loads of things that don't worl on MAC so i'd advise PC, My Satellite broadband service that i subscribe to for example is PC only.

Aye, stick with PC...the mac is more confusing..

Also, It still has one button and to boot photoshop takes approx. 40Secs on the Fastest Mac

IAMAMO (I am not a mac owner). Yes the mice still have one button, but macs will work fine with a two button mouse. afaik, you can control-click to 'right click'.

Buy a nice PC (but not a DELL) and a Mac-Mini, get the best of both worlds.

Its being paid for by his company!!!

Get one of those Dual G5 chipped Macs and a big screen.
I only use PC's/Unix workstations so I'm not a Mac fanboy but when I was in college the media department was full of Mac's and not PC's!!!

You can of course, use any usb mouse you like with a mac, Im using a MS v3 mouse atm, 5 button.

Anyway, i use a imac G5 for all my design work. 20" screen helps.

If i was speccing, yeah id go for a dual powermac g5, with a large display

I own both, I use my Mac for most design work I do, but if its only web design your going to do, i'd say go with the pc, but be sure its only *WEB* design that you're doing. Macs are miles ahead of pc's for graphic design in general tho.

What??? You can use an ordinary mouse with "Le mac"...Dang, That was one of my reasons for not owning one, the other reason i had for not owning a mac was the fact that i couldn't afford one :P
