Plextor DVD Burners - not recognising disks.

I bought a Plextor PX-716A from Komplett back in February. Over the last week, it seems to have gone belly-up. I put in a disk (doesn't matter whether it's blank or not, CD or DVD), and all I get is a flashing brown light on the drive door, it doesn't recognise the disk. I've also updated the firmware, to no success. Surely a DVD burner would last longer than 5 months? Anyone else had any problems like this.

Well, first off, get yourself a cleaning disc. Could be a dirty read head.

Tried that, didn't work. It wouldn't even recognise the cleaning disk.

It should still be under warranty...get an RMA from komplett.ie and return it to them.

They will probable replace it(optical drives are expensive to fix) but if are forcefull then you may get a refund.

Got a HDD at christmas that was faulty...acted aggrssively and I got a full refund incl. my return costs!!!

My 716A has been "odd" since I got it. Newer firmware made it a bit better, but it still behaves oddly, not seeing disks or freezing.
