ok so me and a friend just flew from bangkok to phuketand we are staying in Patong for 4 nights. we have been here the best part of a day and while the beach and bay are beautiful the nightlife is crap. all there is is seedy bars full of desprite gogo girls and prostitutes - no actual nightclubs where you can go and meet people and have a dance and a laugh.

also we are both approx. 20 years of age but there are practically zero people of our age. its all either 30 something couples, dirty old men looking for whores, dirty old men looking for wives or families on holiday

we were told that phuket was a great place for young people to go and have fun, this was obviously a lie.

    can anyone offer any suggestuions?

i was there 4 years ago and you're right theres no night clubs only the bars with energetic women, we found a half decent irish bar but otherwise we just drank in bars, oh! we did drink in one bar that was good it was a night club but was filled with locals singing Karaoke but for the life of me can't remember where it is

not sure how damaged it got after tsunami but ko lanta is great place, really really nice and the beaches stuff is great,,,
if yo are looking for laughter then head to ko phan ngan but its typical tourist stuff,,
over the otherside is best island ever,, ko chang
go to the treehouse(i think) where you can get anything your heart desires!! more or less!!

Head outta phuket,, wont get any better,, its a kip,, so many many more deadly places in thailand than that,,

ohhh the jealousy,,,,, would love to be there,, lap it up big style,, dont be in any rush home to this kip

maybe for young thai girls to go make money.

i was in thailand for 3 months and steered well clear of that sh1thole!

ko phangnan / ko samui / ko tao are the best islands, all beside each other

head for Phuket ***t town and take the boat to Krabi/Ao Nang/Railay. The boat might go via Phi Phi island.

East Hat Railay is the place you will find like minded 20 somethings hanging out smoking weed drinking beer etc and its good and cheap - there is no road access do a google search for a map. There is fluck all to do there except for rock climbing - you know you want to

Ao Nang 20 minutes by boat away is a nearby small tourist town very unlike Patong more like Tramore.

From there then you should be thinking about making your way over to the other coast for Samui and Phangnan.

Phuket should be avoided by any decent visitor for the reasons you pointed out.

I realise this, but it was the first search result for 'phuket' and caught my eye.

    Thread closed.

Raising the dead to say "I concur" is a bit of a waste of everyone's time...
