Just wondering, I heard that you have to be over 25 to be a van driver for the likes of ups/nightline. Is this true? Also how much does it cost to do one of those two day forklift courses?

Im not sure if you can do a 2 day course. I did a 5 day one a few years back for about E500 I think. As far as I remember at the time that was the minimum amount of days you had to attend for full certification, but I did get my reach and counterbalance forklift licences at the end.

I would fully recommend the company I trained with too. They were really good guys and thorough in their training. PM me if you want their details

just look in to it carefully, with the prices of petrol/diesel,thats the killer
used to be a courier until recently , would talk to many owner drivers out on the road , thay said hard to make a living now with petrol prices on the rise ,money was good a few years back. long hours and high mulitidrop numbers,
one told me now days after insurance/petrol/tax,etc.. would come out with €400 to €450, he would put in long hours just to get this.
    just do your homework first.

+1 on this. Chat to as many drivers as you can.

The courier business is feckin cut throat. Te last place I worked in were getting unbelievably low rates for collections and deliveries. Reason how they could do this was because the drivers were getting paid a pittance per drop/ collection.

I'm not saying its not possible to make money out of it, but most of the drivers who came into us had a side line of some description going to make up the money. As has been said as well, the cost of diesel is the killer.

When I was let go, I could've gotten an owner- driver gig. Pay was €650 per week. But you had to pay for your own diesel.
