It's not bad actually. Did you write it? Are you the vocalist? I saw your other thread about the Mark Knopfler gig (I was at it too:)). It's very obvious you have been influenced by him in this song.

Good easy listening rock track. I think the electric guitar comes in a bit too strong at the start though :o

not to be an ass but i felt the sound is a bit pub bandy and i think the drums could have be better?
they are very "bass, snare, bass, snare, drum roll, snare"

you sound like a mix between luka bloom and the four of us.

lyrically very simular to all other irish male singer sondwriters
is always about a girl\love got any other topic in yer songs?

there is nothing in the song that screams original
but in saying that i feel it would get decent airplay if realesed

keep up the good work mate!

can't work out whether you're pro or con but I'll suck out the hint of praise and pat myself on the back anyway!

other topics: check the website: war, suicide, time, love, hate are some of the themes/topics but hey: it depends on the mood of the listener which song they're gonna like at any given time...right now I'm feeling LOVE so dats what I write...tomorrow I could be wallowing in despair...

I was in the worst seat in the Point for Mark, you know when you look back and you see the guy at the very back in the very corner at the very top and say "Sheesh, I'd hate to be him"? Well that was me! Only 3 seats together:( Security guards laughing and joking and the lobby right behind with the balcony blocking half my view and the sound very faint meant a not so happy fan :(

I was at the Boss about 2 weeks after it though and I had great seats for a great gig.

Anyway, for a one man band it sounds good. It's slightly pub songy but saying that it would be one of the better pub songs. Yes, I do think the general public would like this type of song. I'm generally into all different types of music anyway, from Leonard Cohen to Enya to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones to Paul Van Dyk to Dave Matthews Band to Smashing Pumpkins these are all masters in their genre and some can't be put in a Genre. They put their hearts and souls into their music.

Maybe if you recorded with a band you would be able to concentrate more on other aspects. A regular drummer could easily play what you probably spent quite a while compiling, same with bassist etc. However if you had a band the drummer/bassist may have much more experience with the instrument and be able to implement it into the song more. This would give a better sound of percussion etc and you would be able to put more into lyrics etc.

I had a listen to running out of time. I would like to hear this without the synth. Just your voice and the piano. Don't crowd your songs too much. Some times the most simplistic songs sound the best.

Have you considered children for backing vocals? Leonard Cohen has some great child backing vocalists, it makes the songs sound amazing and their voices take you to another world. However, I think this may just be better left to Mr. Cohen as not many people would be able to pull off what he does. And you're music isn't the same type as his would be.

There are a million and one bands out there. Find your edge and work on it.

we were fortunate we got seats in row 20 and the sound was top but I've heard that if you were much further back it sounded like a badly tiled bathroom!

Shame...I guess the sooner you get the tickets the closer you get to the stage...at least I assume dats how it works! It was, however, a legendary experience for Knopfler/Straits lovers and I count myself amongst them!
