Eveningtime cardio and next-morning weights?

Hi all, I've a short question as to how closely one can space workout times.

I've started doing my weight training in the morning (7am) before work, because in the evenings - my usual and preferred time of the day to work out - I have to wait bloody ages for the most popular pieces of equipment (Smith machine, leg press) to become free.

I've four slots in the week in total, two of intense cardio, and two of weights. So this means at two early mornings in the gym, in order to use the equipment I want to.

Trouble is, the dunderheads at the gym don't open up at 7am on Tues/Thurs, so if I want to fit in all my workout slots into the weekdays I have to (for example) do cardio on a Tuesday evening and weights the following morning, i.e., less than 12 hours apart.

Do you see a problem with enacting this schedule? Or should I leave one of the slots until the weekend?

Any thoughts, opinions, etc. are most welcome.

The important thing with weights is to have 48 hours between working on same muscle groups (muscle grows while resting). Doing cardio within this 48 hours won't have any adverse effect on your muscle. So the answer is no -there is no problem with your schedule (its what I do). I do all cardio in the morning, and all weights in the evening, and obviously there are days where after an evening weights session, I have a morning cardio session.

If you're pissed off at your gym, you should check out JJB Fitness on Childers Road. They're open at 6:30 every morning......

I'm careful to observe the 48-hour hiatus between working identical muscle groups, and the evening/next morning combination is, you say, perfectly viable... great! Sorted!

And I will check out JJB Fitness too... although having paid EUR480 for my current place (Grove Island) until next March, I'm understandably loath to fork out a second time, plus Grove Island is a good bit nearer to where I'm living.

Thank you TmB, you've shone again!!

You could check out the UL arena, great facilities, if that is anywhere near you.
