AK is fast becoming my least favourite hand.

$39 SuperSat to the 200+15 on PS. 13 remaining. 8 get in and 9th gets $152. I am in 9th. I get AKo on the button but the tight CO who I only have covered by about 500 makes it 800 to go (100/200/25) The blinds are about to go up to 200/400 and the shortest stack has 2.5K. I have T3910. I put him on TT-QQ. Should I take the race?

    PokerStars Game #2045291824: Tournament #9607804, Hold'em No Limit - Level VII (100/200) - 2005/07/06 - 16:17:15 (ET)

In a normal tourney I'd move all-in but in a sat with top 8 getting tickets, I'd have to chuck it.

OK, but what about the stack sizes? When I fold I'll almost be the shorty at the table with the blinds about to go up. I'll have less than T3900 at 200/400.

Why not flat call the raise Nicky? You've got position so for less than a quarter of your stack you play a hand that, if u hit, could almost guarantee your ticket...if u don't, you've still got enough to play with.

I'd fold it here. The blinds are still relatively small compared to your stack so there's no reason to go for a coinflip just yet. You could have him dominated but it's too risky imo.

AK is pissing me off too. I'm just back from a MTT where I went all in with AK and was called by some retard with A4s. Caught the flush on the turn. One of the other guys at the table starting saying "Great call, great call".
I called an all-in a €50 STT in the Red Cow last week. It was just the two of us left with approximately the same stack size. The guy had J7o and rivered a 9 for the straight to take 1st.
Knocked out both times with AK.

I'd prefer not to flat call here, I really think it's a fold or all-in situation. Your right Nicky it's pretty tight with the blinds going up but if you feel it's only going to be a 50/50 I'd prefer to pick a better spot.

I'd much rather try rob the blinds with junk and no previous callers rather than re-raise a rock. It's a tricky one you can make arguments for both sides.

If you put him firmly on TT-QQ then I think its a fold. You have no chips invested in the pot, no folding equity, and a hand that is behind every possible hand, Id rather push the next hand blind. However if his range is broader and includes hands which he wont call all in with (KQ, JT,44) and hands where you would like him to call with (AK, AQ, AJ) then its a push.

Why do you put him on TT - QQ? Would he act differently with AQ in that spot?

I see it a lot on Pokerstars at this blind level. 800 is more likely to be a big pair than AK/AQ etc because players don't want to play it postflop or are happy to just take the blinds.

He had TT. I pushed in and lost the race. The table had been getting tougher with the big stacks beginning to pressurise. Blind stealing was easy earlier but the player on my left had started to play back at me. I felt with the blinds about to go up I may be forced into a worse scenario. Its difucult to say really how it would have gone but I felt my chance of folding and making top 8 were less than 50/50. If I had just a few more chips I would have folded, but that still may have been the right decision.
