getting rid of bags under my eyes

Ive always seemed to have bad black bags under my eyes since I was a teenager, Ive been told my eyes are my best feature so it cant be all that bad - however lately one eye has been looking like its gone 7 rounds with Mike Tyson.

Ive tried Boots eye cream but its just stung the fu*ck outta me, E45 cream has fared a bit better but not much. Ive been catching up on sleep the past 2 days yet one eye in particular looks very tired, does lack of fresh air affect this kind of thing?

    Any good creams that work?

Like my namesake I like to look well :D

If its puffyness you are trying to get rid of use Preparation H under your eyes. I swear this stuff really works, you'll feel a bit weird using it on your face but i promise it will work

    http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a990305.html <<- Preparation H does not work.

I have no idea. I've had the same problem since I was 10...and I sleep quite a bit (8-9 hours), drink 3-4 litres of water a day, have a healthy diet and exercise regularly. There's nothing I don't do - yet I have bad black bags too... I think it's a consequence of not exercising/eating badly/staring at screens constantly from ages 10-14...

I'd love to know this too!

I've constantly got backs under my eyes, stressfull job, try and get out as much as i can..

I presume girls can user concealer? (is that what this does?)

does anyone know of any product for blokes?

e45 cream is the WORST thing you can use under your eyes! The skin there is too thin and delicate for such a rich moisturiser.

Try putting tea spoons in the freezer and holding them on your eyes for 5 mins, or the same with cucumbers.

I'm sure there's eye cream for guys now, they even have Immac for men!

Are you getting enough sleep, drinking enough water?

I'd love to know too! I'm going to a wedding next week and don't want big bags under my eyes! Although I can use concealer I'd prefer not to be re-applying it all day!

As far as I know it's mosty related to genetics and not diet, sleep and work habits. Obviously some products may help to reduce the appearance of them and so forth but they can never be eradicated fully. Case in point to back up what I'm saying; Dakota Fanning the young Hollywood star (in War of the Worlds) - she has that kind of look in all the films I've seen her in and I can't imagine it's down to her diet or special make-up she wears. Bet one of her parent or grandparents has the same "condition" for want of a better word...

Okay, for using anything around the eyes you gotta be really careful. The skin around your eyes is much more thin and delicate. Putting heavy creams on that area will just bring on early wrinkles. The weight of the creams will pull the skin down - and you'll end up with lovely wrinkles, saggy skin!

To help eleviate the puffiness/bags under your eyes. First thing, try and get enough sleep and fresh air. And drink water.

Then a gel eye mask -
    http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1042745
like that should help calm your skin around the area. Haven't used that one, there's loads of makes, but one from boots will do. And you can reuse it again and agaiin! Cooling the area will help the swelling. Put it in the fridge and use it at night or just chill and listen to music with it on.

Ok, there's various types of eye creams out there. Eye creams are lighter than usual face creams because of the thinness of the skin in that area. The mens ranges are usually just the same as the womens but come in masculine (usually grey) packaging. I know Lancome do a good range for men with two (I think, maybe 3) different eye creams. One for puffiness and another for wrinkles. Ya only need a small amount of the creams. Go into a chemist or store and the girls at the counter will help you out with the creams. Don't be embarrassed as they get asked about it all the time and it's their job!

To put on - get a pea sized amount of the cream on your ring finger and press together with your other ring finger (so now cream on both finger tips). Find the orbital bone on your face (it's the bone that goes all the way around your eye area) and gently, dabb the cream along it, all the way up to your brow bone. The cream will be soaked up by the skin under the eye. So don't worry about putting the cream directly under your eye. There are some creams that can be used here but I'm not sure exactly which ones so just go with applying along the bone. Don't put any on your eye lid as this will cause wrinkles and sagging/droppy eyelids in the future!!

    Hope that helps.

I suffer quite badly from hayfever and sore eyes and always end up with bags under my eyes,, the cheapest most effective way to conquer these are definitly Tea bags..
wet them and leave them on both eyes til dry,,(use both sides).
really does work,,, bags(pardon pun) will be gone in no time!! :)

You can also try using a night cream from Clinique called all about eyes
    clq_61EP_250.jpg

It's great, I use it a lot especially if I've had a few late nights and it really works. I'd tried a few similar creams before but they all hurt or stung my eyes and this one doesn't.

Then when you get up if you still have a few dark circles try covering them up with their airbrush concealer

I don't work for Clinique or anything, I just find use some of their products these two included and find them very good! :)

If you have always had them then it's probably hereditory....nothing will get rid of it, even with plastic surgery they will come back..I have tried everything, if I saved all I have spent on lotions and potions i would have enough to give the surgery a go:)

Yves Saint Laurent do a cover up thing that is good, but use sparingly you can use it on oter areas too.

drink 3 ltrs water a day whic will help and the tea bag treatment is also good

Look, if your eyes are expressive, people won't notice the skin underneath them!

I've had bags under my eyes for about three years now. So it would seem that I've inherited them. But I'm not sure, because if you get a late night you get them but then they go back to normal. For one perioud about three years ago I was getting nothing but late nights, and I think I may of stressed/stretched out the area under my eyes so much, that they cant go back to normal. Like when a fat person loses a lot of weight and theres loads of flabby skin left. But I don't think theres much you can do either way. I'm going to try the teabag thing and ice to losen them up, doubt it will work.
