Does eating 2000kcal one day and 1000 the next mess your metabolism?

If you are aiming for 1500kcal a day on a diet does eating 2000kcal one day and 1000 the next mess your metabolism?
At weekends I always eat and drink more, I still avoid pure junk food, but eat a lot more and drink like a fish. The next day I would only eat about 1000kcal, and get by fine (i.e. I am not hungry at all, not like I am punishing myself for overeating, seems I just have excess energy to burn).

    Does this mess your metabolism.

Also does anybody like or embrace the fact that they have a slow metabolism, as you don't have to spend as much on food!

I've the same eating habbits as rubadub, during the week i eat about 1500cal a day and never eat after 8 o'clock in the evening it works for me i never feel hungry and eat at reg intervals not skipping meals, eating low cal food with plenty of veg and no junk, eating out at weekends and drink is a problem though i've moved from pints to bottles, works for me i'm loosing weight at a steady comfortable pace.

I am starting to drink less too. I still get as drunk it is just that since I have eaten less during the day, and have a lower body mass than before, it takes less to get to the same stage of drunkeness. Also means I don't eat as much at night. I used to eat a lot after drinking since it helped neutralise acids and "soak up" the beer so I wouldnt wake up with a bad stomach, now I drink less I only eat a bit and it is not from the chipper or chinese! Also have taken up my old habit of drinking the odd pint of water in the pub which helps with the stomach and slows down the pint drinking.

I find eating more one day results in feeling less hungry the next day. It does no harm.

1000 cals??? Do you just graze on some cress and parsley? 1000cals is WAY too low, even if you are dieting... What weight are you? (Also age and activity level would be handy, ie how often you exercise)...

I went ultra low on cals last year and lost loads of muscle, it's not a good idea for dieting. Granted, you "see" the results quicker, but you don't just lose fat; you lose water and muscle as well.

What's your diet like? If you keep it this low, it will slow down your metabolism so that you could never even eat moderately without gaining fat...

The 1000 would be one day only, it may be a bit more as I don't really count, I was just using it as a simple maths 2000+1000 in 2 days is 1500 which I would aim for.
Like I say if I do eat only 1000 I do not go hungry, I do think I am less hungry cause I have energy left over. The 1000 a day would be a sunday, waking at about 12 or 2pm and going to sleep at 11pm, so it is not a long day. I am about 85kg and cycle at least 9 miles a day, 6 times a week, no other real excersise, maybe walk 4-5miles.

it will slow down your metabolism so that you could never even eat moderately without gaining fat...
Like I say, I never go hungry for an length of time. I do wonder if anybody has purposely permanently slowed their metabolism?
Nobody wants a car that has huge fuel consumption, it would be cheaper foodwise if you have a slow metabolism. What are the downsides? the only thing I can see is that you cannot eat lots of healthy food so your nutrient intake would go down. But does a slow metabolism make better use of nutrients too?
