Did anyone get the digital camera in Dunnes for €89.99, not fully sure about the spec but from what I can remember its a 4 megapixel with X4 digital zoom with a 1.5 inch screen and its made by Polaroid.
I'm pretty sure this is it here
    Would it be worth getting?

I'd say clear of that one, any model with only digital zoom is'nt of any quality. Even at 90 euro. Buy second hand.

It has X3 optical zoom and X4 digital.
Would that make it a better buy?

The quality of a camera is determined by its lense and it CCD. The more pixels you have only gives you a bigger NOT a better picture. Buy a decent brand even 2nd hand, even with less pixels. Digtial zoom is useless. Don't use it. These cheap camera's are rubbish.

    Absolute 100% spot on.
Don't be fooled by high megapixels alone, it's not a measure of quality.
I could post a few of my 4 megapixel pics here that look grainy, badly (auto)focused, rubbish saturation... urgh... it fares very badly compared to a good quality 2mp camera.
I've seen a lot of this kind of marketing bullshít with digital cameras lately, I'm disgusted every time

I know its common sense you get what you pay for but at €90 surely one couldn't go too far wrong as a first digital camera for messing around with? :D

I bought a Nikon 3700 for €200 last year. Great picture quality. Its light years away from that cheap rubbish. I had a cheap trust camera before that It was dire. After a few hours you'll be kicking yourself you bought it. If you PM me your email, I'll send you some pictures of both camera to compare.

Always compare sample pics on the web before you buy a camera.

So what price does a decent digital camera start at these days? Anything worth buying round the E100-130 mark.
Would you get a good decent deal off komplett.ie?
    This yoke any better?

in all fairness i've bought many the digi camera, optical zoom is a feature i never really used, unless your using a camera for landscape malarky, zoom isnt really even required

I use zoom a lot to frame my shots... sometimes you don't want that telegraph poll poking into frame, so a quick zoom and it's no longer an issue :)
IMO deciding on these things is what makes photography fun and creative.

..you could preserve the image quality and just take a few steps forward or backwards.

Anyone buy the camera in Dunnes?
I got one, pictures looked fine but I wasn't too happy with it also it was one someone else owned as it had pics on it already so I took it back and got my money back. I bought an Olympus c-720 ultra zoom off Ebay for €160 incl post.
    Seems a much better camera??
