    question about jabba the hutt... was he originally a man?

    i found a site that said he was btu they worked a slug around him so it was cut from the original... or was he a man in the 1977 theatre release?

    the scene was cut in the 1977 release but put back in 1997 with a cgi jabba.

    He was originally PLAYED by a man (actor Declan Mulholland) who recited the lines and blocked the shots of Jabba but he was never ever INTENDED to be a man/human. He was originally intended to be a furry alien done in stop-motion and placed over Mulholland but the technical restrictions of the day meant Lucas's vision could not be realised and the whole scene was dropped.

    I remember seeing the original shot, can't remember if its on the special edition DVD's or vHS, but they are there somewhere....
