Can power supply effect processor speed/display of speed?

    Hi,
    Is it in any way possible for the display of processor speed to change where it is displayed (when you right click "My Computer"), depending on power supply ? For example, could a 1GHZ laptop display as being 500MHZ when it is running off battery? Is anything along these lines possible?

    Absolutely. It's called power saving.

    Its not the powersupply that affecting the speed. Its the processors internal code. It runs on low power mode (i.e. 500mhz) as opposed to full power mode (1000mhz) when its on battery, and nothing currently is using enough CPU time to need faster speeds. Its a good thing!

    It might be speeding up to 1000mhz in quick bursts whenever youre doing anything taxing aswell.
