    Folks,

Don't know if this is in correct thread but anyway here goes...........

I have a 5GB I-River portable digital music player & have successfully installed music from my hard drive to this device. However my question is can I copy a cd directly onto the I-River without having to put it on my hard drive first?

I installed all necessary software etc but can't seem to copy straight to the device without having to burn to hard drive first & then transferring from there.

The instruction manual leaves alot to be desired!

    Any help greatly appreciated :)

If the player shows up as a removable disk, you can probably specify the drive letter it assumes as the target for putting the rips into. But that said, if you ned to use the transfer software it may not show up correctly in your player, as sometimes this software makes changes to the files (name changes, etc) or has to register them somehow within the player.

    Hi Aidan,

Yes it comes up under the F:(Removable) Drive but as u said I do need to use the transfer software that came with the I-River player & the only way I can manage to transfer my music so far is to burn to hard drive first & then transfer, which is a pain in the neck!

Has anybody else got one of these players? If so can ya plz help!

If it has a line-in socket like some of the bigger models I think you can just plug it in to your stereo and record directly. Check the manual for anything regarding line-in recording. I have the 40Gb model, but I've mislaid the manual so I can't tell you what it says about it.

Tanabe next time at least tell people what player you are using. Its the H10 I know but to line in record with this player you need to use the cradle (I believe its on P32 regarding the line in usage but thats from memory and probably wrong). www.misticriver.net is worth a look as we are always willing to help. This is the iRiver community so its well worth signing up to keep up with the latest developments regarding the players.
