I wonder if you could help me, I just joined the bulletin board.ie and have not had the chance yet to ask collegues and friends to join up.


I am sorting out a web dance radio station, and need to setup a bulletin board which will be part of one of the web pages of the site. But to be approved I need 5 members to post a reply on to my original request, which is on the admin board in www.boards.ie , only
then this will be approved and then I can add the bulletin messaging to the
web site (www.madradio93.com).
This is a new irish radio web station trasmitting on 93.2Mhz in Dublin and surround areas.

You gleaned 15 email addresses from the web site and sent out what was basically an advertisement for your radio station and a request for support. THAT'S WHAT SPAM IS!

And it's "Boards.ie" by the way, not bulletin.ie

If you were looking for support, I would suggest that you would have been better off just posting the community forum request and getting a name for yourself on boards.ie by taking part in discussions (and left it at that), as opposed to spamming 15 people with unsolicited mail as you did.

However, that said, the guy HAS apologised and I think you should stop beating him now...

Given that there is a website thats going to support the board it has a better chance of growing then most

Hopefully, Cloud will see this and create it (I still dont know how to create them yet).

Hmm i got that mail as well and am not impressed with that, however I would support the making of the board if its going to increase hits and widen the popularity of boards.ie

I've no idea if it's a popular station or not, but might as well give it a chance... as long as this crap doenst happen again

I believe why not give it a chance, though I also agree that Spam type mail is not acceptable. But an apology was given, there was no financial gain from this so I say Lets add the Madrid Community. One point though - any further complaints in the future of spamming and I will be requesting this community be removed for good (assuming it is accepted)

Well this may be a coincidence but my boards registration e-mail which I hardly ever use and was spammed yesterday by madradio just recieved 6 more spam mails this morning.

These were the first spam mails I have ever gotten to that address, as I said I hardly ever use it.

Hoping in my simple mind, that whoever
was online did not mind a quick mail..

4. Each user was mailed individually from
my Hotmail account madradio@hotmail.com

5. I have not copyed or sent your emails to
anyone else, I don't even have a copy myself of the mails I sent.

The email you sent these 15 individuals (whom you do not know) was unsolicited and unrequested. That is what SPAM is, so yes you DID send out spam mail. Stop claiming that you didn't!

I have no bad feelings toward anybody. I hope your station works out wel (though there is as much chance of me volunteering for a colonic irrigation as there is of me listening to it )

I don't think I am on a distribution list however, these group mailings that get forwarded/replied to all end up with people getting real spam (as I did0 but as I said i don't use that address so I don't really care.

OK BARD. I know you like to be very technical...
all you keep brining up is the terminology for SPAM,
I think you got your point well across by now!

I thought my reply to CB made some sense ? maybe my grammar was wrong ?

all I was trying to do is to calm CB to the fact that the mail(spam) I sent
was just a once off and all individual mails i.e. I did not use a distribution list or
did I forward or save to any company.

As for instance when trying to reply to CB's latest message, I can understand his paranoia
that his email maybe on some dist. list (BUT NOT)

Most cases SPAM appears as unwanted commercial e-mail,junk e-mail advertising (and yes I know your going to quote this one again BARD).
and in a few cases, unfortunate enough to receive unsolicited religious,
racial or sexual messages, a somewhat more serious matter.

I think I have been wrongly associated to what 99.9% is what SPAM is associated with,
even if technically speaking what I've done is called spamming.


Even after explaining over and over in detail what procedure I used,

BARD common, listen, it does not help, when all you bring up is SPAM, SPAM, SPAM...
all what users see is SPAM and panic understandably,

and whatever credibility and sincerity I'm trying to get across to just open a new Bulletin board,
you keep destroying it. Because remember your not just any user you are a Mediator and in such case
majority of users will listen to what u have to say, regardless of points I'm trying to get across...


Also I'm not sure the title MEDIATOR is appropriate in your confrontational character.

I may have started the battle, but I feel I'm a no way out situation.
Too much bad public feeling is associated with this link. There no point
