what laptop to buy ??

    have about 1200 to spend on a laptop , was lookin at a pretty good spec dell 6000 . 1.7 Pentium M , 512mb ram , 128md x300 vid card , 60gig HD , was wonderin if anyone knowsa better spec machibe for same sort of price.

    needs to be able to run 3d max software well

    Go to the factory outlet and you'd get an XP2 for that price...
    I got the 6000 with 128 mb x300 FOR 560 :D

    Totally agree with Muppetkiller there. Generally, I hate DELL but the factory outlet prices especially can be damn good...

    Picked up an Inspiron 9100 myself, 3 months back for 1250.

    3.2Ghz HT CPU, 1GB of RAM, 60GB HD, ATI 9700 128MB and the best bit: a WUXGA screen that runs at 1920 x 1200... Absolute class in 3DS Max BTW - very easy to have the main app and tutorials/help files open side by side.
