Im looking for a cheap printer, suitable for light use in the home, nothing too involved.

I remember dell were flogging Lemarks for next to nothing for a while, anyone know of any other bargains anywhere?

I have one of these Dell printers, original packaging, unused.

meant to say most of Dells injets started as Lexmarks anyway , both use LOTS of ink regardless of what the marketing says and the drivers can be very unstable

+ you have to buy overpriced ink from dell if you buy the dell one

    canon pixima ip1500

not the cheapest to buy but costs feck all to run.

Spurious carts RETAIL at about 8 euro and work great. Ive been using Canon with cheap ink for years now and swear by it!

    AVOID LEXMARK/DELL

Even refills are hard to get for these. Ive seen wholesale pallets of lexmark printers going at 7USD each? Why? Because lexmark make their killing on ink, like gillette on razor blades.

HP arent much better, refills are ok, but the heads are built into the carts and normall only last 2-3 refills at which stage you have to get a new head as they are only designed to run for one tank!

Epson are expensive to run too, but decent spurious carts can bet gotten as well as refills. Still not at cheap as Canon though.

Heads last an age on Canon, so no worries there.

Did I mention get Canon? :)

Try the new PC World opening in Airside retail park swords this friday, got a leaflet in the door today, had loads of good deals happenening from fri-sun.
Lemark desktop printer 19.99, only 10 per day so get there early.

I'd have to agree with the Epson C84 - good printer - 4 inks. I buy the compatible inks for £1 each from UK. Inks for most Epsons seem to pretty freely available.

    Try the Canon ip1000.
54.99 in PC World or Harvery Normans (that I know of).
Very good printer with cheap cartridges.
As said above stay well away from Lexmark!

can i just ask about buying a printer in argos. the printer is priced, the cable is priced and the cartidges are priced, does that mean you have to buy them all separete?

i.e. if you buy the printer does it come with the cable and cartridge?

The printer will come with a 'starter' cartridge, with somewhere around half the ink of a standard refill. You will have to buy the printer cable seperately.

Argos are being friendly (marketing) by telling you they stock replacement cartridges fro that model, and how much they cost.
