Nah, its a safe board. Being seen to not actively dissuade obvious warez monkeying (like people promoting an FTP server filled with warez, despite what your other account says) wouldn't be seen in a good light be anyone investigating it.

Also, can you prove he deleted stuff? The only way to prove he did would be to share your whole harddrive and give us access to it. I'm sure that would be an acceptable method of determining whether something was actually deleted or not. And its not really that private if you publicly give people read/write access, is it?

Putting a windows system on the internet without a firewall is madness. There are patches to prevent others taking "complete control" every month, and on average there several holes still not patched yet.

Out of curiousity where you using IIS (It Isn't Secure) / built in windows ftp share or a third party app that limits connections by default ?

Yeah it's hosted on SkyDSL so the latency is rubbish. I might give them a call to sort it out. "Hey my name is Mr Sinnot, my son is trying to host illegal files on your network, but his friends can't download them due to your network being shoddy I DEMAND SATISFACTION!"
