    Lads,
Can anyone recommend a setup for someone starting to learn the electric guitar ? I'm in Galway , I've had a look in the Argos cat for reference and I know lots of people have said in the past to stay away from whatever they sell. Are the Fender's they sell crap ? Remember I'm just a learner.

Any recommendations in town ? I would consdier 2nd hand as long in good condition. Do any of the shops in town stock 2nd hand guitars ? I would want a very least guitar, amp and leads .

    Thanks

  • Do you have a credit Card and can buy off the internet?
Cause if so you'll get a cheaper deal and you can get exactly what you want/need.

Any links to something you'd consider suitable ?

I think I would like to be able to see and feel the guitar in person before I have actually purchased it. Suppose I could look at a similar guitar in-store .

  • yeah, that's the plan for all buying, try it in a shop, take down the model number and buy it online. I just bought a guitar from japan for almost half price, including shipping! You'ld be mad to buy guitars in ireland, mad!

    Thomann

    second hand
Chris's Guitars(best place to get second hand stuff on the net, cheap as chips as a certain orange man would say)

I think this link to Ishibashi is far easier to understand and navigate from

    http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/body?wb_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ishibashi.co.jp%2Fwebshop%2Fguitar%2Findex.htm&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2

Hope you can find something there. And if you look at other posts on this forum, you'll see the high regard that the Japanese Fender's in particular have.

I think it's summed up in the idea that in Japan, their culture of total honour to themselves and to others, means there is no 'Friday Afternoon phenomenon' in regard to their standards. Everything is built to the best of their ability, from first to last. And knowing how particular the Japanese are, that certainly shouldn't surprise anyone.

Watch out for the hysterically hilarious translated descriptions. They'll have you falling off your chair, wondering WTF is that supposed to mean? They're priceless!

Hopefully less than the 9 years that this thread has been sleeping. :-)
