When ever I push CTR-Alt delete on my computer the normal window does not open. What does come up is a box with all the applications that are presently running, and "end task", "switch to" and "new task". There is a load of stuff missing from the window! Anyone know whats wrong?

What normal window are you looking for?
I assume you're running windows 9x or ME?

Along the top of the window there should be a few tabs. Click on them to find what you uasually have. If they arent there , try double clicking on the border of the window to make them appear.

Click the Processes tab after you press Control+Alt+Delete. Is that what you were looking for?

In the processes tab there may be an option to show processes from all users (if you are an admin etc.)

Also look at http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html site, it and pskill will stop processes that task manager can't (don't stop them if you aren't sure what they are) -
and there is a version for windows 98 too , trés cool
