Tracing copied folders?

    Say someone was to copy something they werent ment to from a network drive, stuck it on a usb key !
    Is there anyway of seeing when then folder was copied and who copied it?

    Entirely depends upon the network. Is it NetWare? How do you log in to your PC?

    Most SMB servers (Windows Filesharing and SAMBA) keep connection logs, all right, but I think it's fairly unusual to actually keep track of files transfered (tho it's certainly possible). From the server's point of view there'd be no way to tell that the log was transfered to a USB thingy, and it wuold look no different from the user retrieving the file to view it, say; you'd have to do that on the client side.
