    lads...heres the story

i have a 1Gig memory stick that was 96% through a Full format when the feckin window cleaner kicked the power switch and knocked off the power to my PC, now when i plug in the stick, windows recognises it installs it, all looks ok. But in windows explorer when i ckick on the device it says "Please insert a disk into drive f" . If i try to formay with the sticks format utility, it can't find it. If i try to format with windows it say there is no disk, insert a disk and try again.

any ideas lads...all i want to do is be able to write to the stick again, don't need to recover anything off it.

    thanks

    go to disk manager...

control panel , admin tools , computer managment , storage , disk manager

, you can initialise the disk or memory stick in there and format it from there also

    thanks for the reply formatman

In disk management, the stick shows allright, but it just says No Media, same as CD-ROM, theres feck all i can do with it there......could the loss of power during the format have damaged the device??

possible but it solid state so theres nohting moving like a hard drive , its more windows isn't intelligent enough to see it properly

you could try formatting in a sony camera in the sony store or elsewhere in dublin and if that works then reformat it for the PC
