There is no God. Having a God is a comfort to some people. They wish to believe there is a God, because some religious church or group tells them so.

Not really. There are people who believe in very little of the current structures of public religion but believe fiercely in god. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs, even yours. To the people who believe in God just because someone says "Believe" and they say "I must obey", they are not true followers and are in the minority believe me ;)

What makes you so sure there is no God? And don't ask me how I'm so sure there is a God, please.

Belief for me is a natural thing. I can't imagine acquiring it through someone explaining to me that I must believe.

i think everyone that believes in god is just an illogical prickend. how can you believe in god in the total abscence of any good evidence? what a bunch of cocks!

I fail to see why you care so much what someone else believes and their reasons for doing so. I think people who go around insulting large tracts of people for a common belief they share, in other words, bigots, are the ones who are the prickends.

I don't like every religous person i meet, I can't stand quite a few because of their actions, but I think calling every religous person a cock belies your own deep-rooted idiocy.

I do sincerely hope your remaining brain-cell doesn't die of loneliness.

edit: Mind you, seeing as yer in prison now...

When arguing outside the strictures of any one dogmatic faith, as everyone who has so far posted here (amazingly) seems to be, then the question is not so much "is there a God", rather, "how does one define God". People can choose to define God in such a way that noone would deny that it exists, for instance: "God is the sum-total of all existence". Nobody can intelligently deny that a God so defined is not real. They may however level the charge that such an idea is useless and uninteresting, and the idea of such a God is pointless - that the word God is wasted on that idea and that it should be used for something else. Say: "God is the abstract idea of perfect good". Now, while one may object on sceptical or relativistic grounds to the existence of such a thing, it is a far less objectionable concept than the religious conception of God, id est: an intelligent creator being, omnipotent, omniscient and all-loving.

In other words, define what you mean by "God" before you go about discussing whether or not it exists.
