just wondering anyone else had that problem? or is it just me unlucky!

    cheers

    I'm using 77.72 on a AGP 6800GT.

What the problem look like. Does it look like its a colourful "negative". If it does then you might have the same probs as me.

Try right click > properties > settings > advanced > troubleshoot and turn the acceleration from full (if its up that far) down 3 notches so that direct draw and direct 3D are off and see what it looks like. Course I cant play any new games when its like that so I have it up and down a bit.

EDIT: No idea if we have the same problem at all, but I think I fixed mine. Before trying the above, right click the nvidia settings on the system tray thingy, go to colour correction, change the colour profile to Advanced and you might need to "apply colour changes" to all on the drop down menu thing.

yep same problem, thats a bit of hassle to get the driver to work the way it should, tbh I dont see much difference between the 2 versions in performance really, there is but very little, i think i just use 71.89 instead since everything works fine without me doing anything, and 77.72 keeps thinking my secondary TFT is the main screen, and it was a pain to change them back as the driver didnt want to let me swap them over, so I had to disconnect the second TFT altogether and reinstall driver then have the first TFT set up first and then plug in the second TFT, nvidia needs to do better than that!!!

    cheers for the reply mate!

Aye, its not exactly a good standard.

yea they made some silly mistake before already and I had email them, and the reply was pretty much like they dont care what problem I had as I am individual, they only deal with companies who sells there cards, yet, we are all using reference drivers which came with the card anyway, so updates will also be reference, so why has that not got to do with them, I like there cards but that email was a disapointment!

I've never had a problem with them before. I think windows auto update took care of driver updates for me (either that or I had the same drivers for 3 years).

But yeah, it does suck that nvidia dont seem to care about "the little guy".

I had the same problem, it seems the driver sets the video overlay colours incorrectly by default to high gamma. Go into the control panel, and choose advanced instead of standard (you don't actually have to change anything oddly enough), and that seems to reset it to the defaults. I've found I've had to do this after every reboot as well however. I'll try and chase up nVidia on it today.

Let us know if you get anywhere.

yea it would be cool to get them to finally do something for the smaller buyers like us, having to do that after every reboot is still a pain though!!! I stick with 71.89 till something is done I think,

    cheers :)

I had a simmilar problem as ye had above,
I am using a BFG 6800GT OC, and fixed the problem by using
a driver cleaning utility that removed any traces of old drivers and then
    installed the new one again.

You don't seem to be alone. I go here whenever I have trouble with Forceware drivers. Chances are, the problem has been discovered and explained before I know I even have a problem :). They're very good.

I'm fairly sure the 71.89 have a fairly major bug in them that makes your card run at higher temperatures. If you want your 6800GT to last much longer I suggest you find better drivers.

To check you 6800's temperature go to Control Panel>Display>Settings Tab>Advanced Button>GeForce 6800GT Tab> Expand the menu with the little green button> Temperature Settings. Have a look at your GPU Core & Ambient temperatures and tell us what number you see. Mine is 58/36.

I'm using 76.41 drivers which seem to suit me fine. But everyones computer has a different reaction to Forceware drivers, it seems. You can get the 76.45 drivers here, I think they're fine too.

    Good luck.

Mine is 51/38 at the moment. And since I changed the settings to advanced I've had no problems with anything. If major problems happen again I'll try the 76.45 but for the moment I'll stick with these ones.

I'm on 77.72. I had the problems the OP had but I got it sorted. :)

    Alright, I couldn't be arsed upgrading. :p
Some drivers came with the Battlefield2 demo but they seemed to affect performance in games for me.

The temperature bug is related to drivers before 72.xx or 73.xx. I think StRiKeR should really check his temps.
