Am I being overly pessimistic in thinking that the spear tackle on BOD could be the end of his rugby career?

A lá Damien Duff (and Bryan Robson) isn't it entirely possible that this injury will occur repeatedly from now on, especially given the nature of the game and the way BOD plays.

It sounded like a particularly bad dislocation. I'm wondering will he ever be able to put in tackles again without fear of a dislocation. Only time will tell.

it's quite possible....but let us hope that he pulls through even stronger and better than ever

I'd say it's quite realistic to say that given the 25-min dislocation and subsequent surgery (correct me if I'm wrong but he's scheduled for some), he could suffer from the Wilko problem of people criticising his ability to tackle at full strength. It would be an awful pity for such a good ambassador for the game.

It seems like a very serious injury but lets all hope that he pulls though it and with the apropriate physio and such that he comes back bigger and stronger than ever

i am sure hes not the only person to have dislocated his shoulder, although did take longer to pop into place.

Jonny put in some crunching tackles on saturday, so he doesnt seem to bad.

Bit pessimistic alright. 9 years later still winning 6 Nations and getting the odd MOTM
