Dublin South Transport Survey

I just received this in my email.
    Dublin South Transport Survey

As a resident of Dublin South you will be aware that there parts of the
constituency which have no little or no public transport facilities. In
other areas the existing service is under threat. In addition to the need
to protect and strengthen the current service Fine Gael believes that
there is a need to prioritise transport projects and to target funding.

To this end, as Fine Gael's Transport Spokesperson, I would very much
appreciate if you could take a few moments to complete the survey which
you will find on this link:

Why is the Dublin Rail Plan not included in Q15? It claims to be a Dublin survey, not just Dublin South.

Is this part of her shadow transport brief or just playing to the local constituency?

The survey is to "bus based". It should have a wider scope of choices, plus multiple choice answers.

    Fine Gael makes another balls!

Err whats the main form of public transport used by people in South Dublin?

I agree with you but it does need a wider scope.

    Wow, what a cr@p survey.

I hope they're not giving the same amount of professional attention to their manipulation of the results.

Dublin City 20% Bus, 4% Dart, 33% Car
    Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown 11% Bus, 8% Dart, 64% Car
    Fingal 10% Bus, 9% Dart, 66% Car
South Dublin 16% Bus, 0% Dart, 66% Car

Source DTO, Road User Monitoring Report 2004 (7 MB)

I believe the South Dublin oireachtas constituency includes parts of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and South Dublin councils.

I'm going to suggest in the survey that the close it down and read a bit of this before rewriting the whole thing.

    Actually emailed her (at 1st.Last@finegael.ie)

If you do the same, please change the wording so it's not perceived as form letter.

    Dear TD Mitchell,

Regarding the transportation survey located at:

The results of any survey are contingent on fair representation
of options, and the language used in writing the survey. I do
not believe that this is the case in the survey mentioned
above, and I am concerned that the results could be used to
    unfairly push an agenda.

Here are some sites about creation of good surveys:

connections to CIE or other transport lobbying bodies.

    Thanks & regards,

Errr so that just proves my point?
The bus is the most widely used public transport in South Dublin.

Im not sure about that at all, they are different county councils.
Roads, grass cutting, bin collection is all done by different authorities.

Well, I'm going to be emailing Olivia Mitchell to ask is it FG policy that enhancement of rail services will not be a priority for transport in Dublin.

    That's what the questionnaire suggests.

Q16 is a ridiculous, soundbyte generating, question. And someone attempted to change the wording and completely screwed it up.

It must have taken all of 2 minutes to put that thing together.

Which rail services in Dublin South do you suggest we enhance?
The summer train in Marly Park?

Not in Dublin South, but I imagine the good burghers would like to get as far as Temple Bar on the Luas.

The Survey title refers to Dublin, not Dublin South.

OM is the FG spokesperson on transport. If she is doing a transport survey and only considering her own constituency, then that's a bit worrying!

Dublin transport policy defined by the requirements of the people of Dundrum only?
