I don't think the postal service here allows for it to be any good.

www.busybeedvd.com is cheaper than Screenclick (aka DVDRentals.ie)

I'm with them 2 weeks now though, and only had 2 DVD's in that time. It seems to take 24 hours for my return disc to reach them, but 4 postal days for me to get my next disc! Hmm, suspicious.

My problem is the limits compared to the price.
Its about 35/40 Quid for 4 DVD rentals a month. which is a load of balls if you ask me. With Xtravision you get 2 new releases for 6 Euro for 2 nights which is enough for anyone really. and if you wanna keep it for a few days then you just pay the extra.
At the online rate its working out a tenner for each DVD. The time you keep it isnt important as most will just watch it when it arrives or whatever then send it back.
It just seems like a rip off to me. For 40 Quid a month i'd want about 15/20 DVDs available to me at any time. if you rented about 15 DVDs you'd need the few weeks to watch em all thats thats where the no late fees would come in handy.
And none of the Irish stores seem to have a decent selection of TV shows. AND you cant seem to rent entire Boxsets, which is madness. you'd have to use up your entire months DVD credit for one box set if it was 4 discs

I joined www.screenclick.com for awhile but gave up within a couple of months.

In my opinion they've a lot of work to do before their service is worthy of a minimum of 20e per month.

When I registered all seemed fine but the day after I couldn't log in and had to get in touch with them. I got no explanation/apology and simply received a new username and password which THEY set up.

They use Worldpay to collect the fee but there is some kind of delay in communcations with them because I got charged for another month weeks after cancelling the service. They refunded the fee no prob but it's the principal of the thing.

How it works: You have to set up a wishlist of the dvds you'd like to see - there are 20 odd places on the wishlist and I more or less filled it but I NEVER got any of my top 5 listings! My recommendation is that you only list dvds you really really wanna see.

On the positive side of things, the dvds were always received within 2 working days of issue and the turnaround was great when I'd return a dvd I could expect one about three days later.

I don't know where you are getting those figures from. I had a positive experience with DVDrentals.ie/Screenclick. I got 3 free rentals in my 2 week free trial, 8 , 7 , 6 , 6 movies in the subsequent four months. Thats a total payout of 80 euro (20 euro x 4 months) for 30 movies, which works out 2.66 euro per film - nearly half the price of a video library. I only stopped as I ran out of films I wanted to see.

I'm now on the free trial with Busy Bee as mentioned earlier. They are half the price again so even if they are a bit slower than Screenclick it should work out great value.

I'm with Webflix in the UK and they deliver to Ireland no problems. They have a great selection of dvd's compared to a few of the Irish ones. I am paying £15 (€22) a month. I get 3 dvd's a time, But I am finding the turn a round very slow indeed now. (Possibly due to the freepost envelope having a british 1st class stamp on). They get to me with in 2 days of dispatch but the return can sometimes be up to a week, so I don't have dvd's for 1.5 weeks! Thinking of packing it in if I can find a cheapish reliable Irish alternative.

I am a member at www.busybeedvd.com and have had no problems with them until this week, but i think thats An Post's fault. I usually get 2 or sometimes 4 DVDs a week so it probably averages about 3 a week, when i signed up i used the special offer code: FREE03 and got €3 euro off, so i got a month membership with one free week for about €17, IMO busybee is very good, when you request a DVD that they haven't got in their collection they will usually add it within a week, and they email you very quickly if you ever email them about anything, they are based in kildare i think, so if you live nere they might let you call down instead of having to post :D

Left Screenclick to try Busybee. Big mistake

Joined the two at a time service. Account took 2 days to activate and is not automatic like every other web site. Received two movies and 3 weeks in one of my return envelopes seemed to get lost in the post. Busybee have NO phone number so i could only email. they said they did not receive my dvds and that they would not send another until they did. Screenclick always sent replacement DVDs after 48hrs and provide excellent phone support. After 1WEEK I received a call from busybee and they wanted to wait still to receive the DVDs. I was away with work for a week and when i got back still nothing. 3 WEEKS with no movies. 3 WEEKS!!!!!! sham of a service. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Also an important point. screenclick charge 27.99 for 2 DVDs at a time but they send them seperately BUT BUSYBEE SEND THEM IN THE SAME ENVELOPE??. i.e with busy bee you cannot return one until you watch both and wait a week then to receive 2 more. I was getting 12-14 dvds a month with screenclick compared to 4-6 with the other shower............ even just check they partners each has and it tells a story. while i was with screenclick they ran promos with dixons, sony, eircom, cadburys... busybee emm...... no contest here. SCREENCLICK are the only genuine service
