This my friends, is an Ibanez RG1527:

    RG1527_RB_00_06.jpg

    She has been shipped!

Oh yes, finally a new guitar! As much of a shock as it may come to some people, I've not actually gotten a new guitar in over 3 years, so it's long overdue. Aswell, after only getting a chance to enjoy the extra low end my friend's 7 string affords him, and when I can try them out in shops, I am finally getting my very first 7 stringer, all to myself! Oh yes. :D

Although right now I'm giddy as a kid at christmas who's parents bought him a monster truck, so hopefully I should have this baby within the week!

    Oh yeah, I rock.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yep, that's the exact finish. Only one available, but I'm lucky it wasn't some horrid colour like neon yellow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

its nice and subtle but its still metal ... we like it!!!! where u buy it from??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Yeah, 'tis quite a metallic finish.

I got it from www.guitarbargains.com and it came to a mere €730 including shipping and it came with its own case. Not a bad price for such a guitar, eh?

They ship from Belgium I beleive. I think Feylya got an Ibanez from them before too.

I'll have to wait untill I get the guitar before I decide if I want to do anything with the pickups or not, but I don't have much faith in the stock Ibanez pups. Still, with that said, I might be pleasantly suprised yet, I've still got the stock BC Rich pickups in my Mockingbird, and they sound excellent.

yeah its a lot to do with the guitar itself too innit... the stock pickups in my edr are not too whorific like u could gig with em...still wanna change em tho

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, got my SZ from them. Love the pickups in mine but might change them to real SD's. Or I might get rid of it...

Funny you should mention that, I'm thinking of getting a Kahler for the Assassin body I have.

Well I'm using firefox, if that helps.

Told you it's a conspiracy - i can only see pics of crappy GRGs, but none of the nice high-end ones that i like! Wtf?

Anyways, is that the new prestige logo on your Ibanez? Don't think i've seen them that small.....

No idea. But it was fairly cool, I was just playing one of those just last Friday! Now, one week later, it's been shipped off to me. :D

Yeah, I know what you mean. Might be far too early to say, but from what I played of the one in Dublin, the neck felt very nice, like the neck on my Mockingbird. Very smooth altogether.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

Was it this guitar you played through the Engl?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

No, I played a BC Rich Ironbird through the ENGL. It was in Musician INC I played the RG. The Ironbird was fairly nice in it's own right, but I don't think I need any more 6 String BC Rich guitars.

    lol, that sounds so.......casual! :D

True, one of each is better!

I'd say this Ibanez is going to rock through the Fireball, just remember those vast reserves of gain!

Yeah, the thing is I don't like having guitars that would just do the same thing, you know? As it is, I've got the Virgin which is setup to E tuning, the Mockingbird is in D, and if I ever fix up the Assassin, it'll be in C. So that's 3 Six String BC Rich guitars right there.

Oh hell yes, I'd say so. But to be frank, it's the Stealth I'd be worried about. If anything is going to unleash those vast reserves of gain, it'll be that monolithic peice of heavy metal right there.

Is that like the normal version of the K7 they use in Korn?

Erm, I don't think so. There's similarities, but the fact that it's a basswood 7 string guitar means it has as much in common with the Steve Vai Universe as it does with the K7.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭david

The K7 has different finishes/inlays and a different bridge... with a U shaped palm whammy bar. It has DiMarzios too AFAIK

She has arrived! Now, excuse me while I go be a hermit. :D

    Nice knowing you, KH :)

Heh... Had to update the sig to accommidate the new gear (Ibanez & Behringer) there. :D

The trem really needs breaking in though. It's insanely out of tune, and sitting in some warehouse isn't exactly going to help its playability straight from the box, so atm I'm tuning and tuning and tuning to break in the trem and strings. Seems very nice indeed, and I hope to have some piccytures tonight.

Sorry I didn't take this pic when I had better light, but she's actually a beautiful shiny reflective blue. I'll see if I can take more pics tomorrow.
