I'm currently running on a Dell Dimension 4500. P4 2Ghz (400Mhz FSB), 768Mb Pc2100 and a Raedon 9600 Pro Le (AGPx4). Is there any point in further upgrading this system or has it more or less reached its potential? Was thinking of this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Intel_Pentium_4_Socket_478.html , would it be worth spending on?

Found this info on upgradeability, looks like it can only take Williamette chips

    Info here - http://www.roberthancock.com/dell/

The manual stated it supports 533Mhz FSB so I thought the prescott would work. That site says: Socket 478 - Willamette, Northwood, 400 or 533 MHz bus PC2100 DDR SDRAM. What would cause the prescott to not work?

Usually the Bios and/or chipset. Check for a bios update, and check the chipset to see of it works with Prescott chips. You may have to contact Dell on this to see what that particular motherboard supports.
