Dont realy know where to start theres so may makes etc.. Im looking to spend no more than €300.

What im looking for is -
      good zoom.
Is the most zoom i would get from a compact camera about 3X? If im looking for more would i have to look into getting a digital-slr?
      excellent quality pics.
I was told this depend on the type of lens. Sony was mentioned to have good lenses but i think there cameras are abit expensive compared to others.
      something compact would be handy

I got a Sony DSCP200 recently - I have to say I really like it - it's a compact, but has a few bits and bobs to play with so it's a bit more macho than a basic compact, I think. I'm having fun with it. You'll want an extra memory stick over and above the 32MB which comes as standard...

For power and quality, you can't beat the FujiFilm S5500. Not compact though, but a damn good camera.

I was looking at the FujiFilm S5500 but i think the Kodak DX7590 is a better camera and the deal through pixmania seems very good.

I put an order in for a Kodak DX7590 from pixmania. Hopefully i'll receive it on Monday or Tuesday.
