Hi guys my name is Rob McKeon, I'm an Irish player on various sites, some of you may know me as Hotspur on pokerstars.
I'm conducting research for my postgraduate thesis on the psychology of online poker players. I have a questionnaire up at www.pokerthesis.com. When you have a few minutes to spare please consider taking part. It is anonymous but, for those who choose the option, I will provide you with email feedback on your results. This involves giving you results and interpretation on your online play from a psychological point of view. This is free of charge for helping me with my research, and you won’t get it anywhere else because I’m the first researcher to adapt psychological instruments to assess online poker playing.
My ultimate goal is to help people who develop a problem with online poker playing, so it is in a good cause. Poker karma anyone?
Thanks for your time, and thank you in advance to anyone who takes part, I really appreciate it. Please feel free to promote the site to others whom you know or play with online, I want to get as many participants as possible.
Best of luck with your poker,
I can be reached at rjhotspur@netscape.net for any questions.
    Rob.

    Done.

I invest in various equities, and have done so for many years, but don't consider it gambling. You might want to consider this.

    Completed.
You may want to change the below typo on the second line of your introduction.
"I am a psychologist and avid online poker player doing who is doing a postgraduate thesis on the psychology of online poker players."
Should give for some interesting results, let us know how it goes and good luck.

    done....

you should consider allowing comments on more of the questions... a lot of them are not yes / no etc...

also sometimes an explanation of an answer will reveal more on someone that just the facts given.

You may not consider this though as it would add a lot to your workload.

    best of luck with it....

Well the next one might include one question that asks what positive things you have gotten out of poker :)

thats another reason why a comment is benificial... because untruths can be deciphered easier from descriptions than yes / no answers.....

thanks a lot to everyone who took the survey and also for the comments, espeically the typo that I missed. You are right that more comments would be more insightful, but also it is true that I don't have the time with this particular piece of research to add more to the workload, it already willl be massive. Thanks again,
    Rob.

Do you know when you might be publishing the results? I entered my email address for feedback just wondering when it might happen.

One other question: are you only getting internet players/forum readers to fill in the questionnaire? If you are then you're missing out on a huge amount of 'more mature' players who have been playing live poker for longer than most of us have been alive. It would probably be hassle but you should get into a few of the cardrooms around Dublin (or wherever is closest for you) and try to get feedback from the players there.

I will mail everyone their results as soon as I can, not a great answer really, but realistically it could be mid Aug, but hopefully I can get it done sooner.
Also the research is specifically addressing online poker, not poker in general. I'm getting a decent spread of age so far.
    Thanks,
    Rob.
