Im thinking of setting up a club, in which i think is a brilliant idea and would be loads of fun, ive seen it in action in another college and its absolutely insane!
Just a simple question, how does one set up a club/soc? Am i too late to do so? Going to be in final year next year, dunno if that makes any difference.... anyone know?

    Cheers.

Being in final year won't make any difference.
All you need is to have:
-20 names and student numbers of people who'd be interested in joining.
    -A "democratically elected committee"
    -And a constitution.

Once you have these, you go to the SCC/SPC, and get them to ratify your club/soc.

You'd be well off trying to get in contact with this years SCC/SPC before you start going and collecting names and drawing up a constitution, as they'll be better able to help you through things.

Out of curiousity, what's the club going to be?

    DCU Brew Soc,
Basically intales maybe a twice a week session(if even) where we make our own wine, cider and beer. And then when its all finished we'll run around naked like wild beasts!
Seen it being done in another college and my god the fun!!! The first few meeting arent great, people stiring etc etc, but the end result will be fantasic!
Of course there will be more to it, ive thought up some more ideas!

maybe there is one already. not sure havnt been all that active in the clubs and socs, but next year gonna go out and get involved, kinda wasted 2 years, as i probably know more people outside of DCU then I do in DCU, which is quite sad i think.

Could find some way around it, because it is in the end a group project, science if you will, rather then simply going on the piss. Could phrase it in a different mannor, i dunno ill think of something...

Sounds like a good idea, and with both the beer appreciation society and the wine appreciation society m.i.a., there is a gap asking to be filled.

You've really gotta hope so *raises eyebrow*...otherwise, it seems he may have started this brew club by himself already...

Yes, there was a "delete spree" yesterday, and Zyox has been banned. He had many warnings.

what college already has a Brew Soc?

DCU already had a beer appreciation society.
I think it was kicked to touch when aclcohol advertisements for Club and Soc events were banned (i.e. drinks promotions).

Zyox seems to get banned from everywhere. :(

Entirely his own fault of course, but still :P

Yes. Beer Appreciation Society was shut down. Also the monopoly on alchohol sale/distrubution on campus owned by the Campus Properties Ltd (the people running the bar) might put an end to this before it begins.

I don't see it happening to be honest but there's no harm mailing the SPC, telling them your thoughts and seeing what they say. I wouldn't put much effort into it before discussing it with the SPC.

Suck it CuLT, I'm back baby. Oh yeah.

What has this got to do with beer appreciation? Nothing :)

Seriously, no more warnings. Next ban will be a month.

You can actually "buy" a monopoly? I thought that was just a phrase describing market dominance. MAD.
