    Hi there,
Could someone please guide me as to what program will let me create an animated gif for free please? I just need to create pretty basic .gifs, something like this would be fine:

    120x600skycraper1.gif

I'd also like to know how to make .gifs like this:

    98618470_s.gif

    Thanks for any feedback!

You can download a free 30 day trial of macromedia fireworks, which also does the job.

Thanks again.. how exactly do I go about making a gif from 2/3/4 still images when I get it so? :)

Doing a quick seach of the help section will lead you to a panel, where you can import the different images and say how long you want each of the images to be displayed for - usually you'll set these to be the same, As far as I remember, in FireWorks, this is defaulted to 1 second.

Again, the online help is probably the best way to go, rather than hahve people here dictate the instructions.

You sure you downloaded it? did you install it? When I went to that link, I had to click about 3 different links to get it to download and then it set up normally and it's in the start menu for me. Maybe try install again?

    Just go to:

    1.Start
    2.Search
    3.Files and Folders..
    4.And type "gifsetup.exe"
    5.That should find it.

(Thats if you did download it!!)

Ok well here is my first attempt. Any comments whether good or bad appreciated. Is there enough time between each frame etc do you guys think?

    rakeback.gif

Here what do you want on it... and like i'll make you one.. do you want it to fade? etc?

Ah it's not that bad is it that you're offering to make me one :o

    Thanks allot for the help:)

What exactly could you do to it though? I'm sure it can be made allot better, but I don't really have the expertise with the software. It's to fit into the bottom left banner space on poker.ie. I'm not too sure how wide the images are able to be or what the best way to even do it is. Should there even be room for 3 different banners like there is now or would it look better with just one banner etc etc.

I'm clueless, maybe start a new thread in the computers section and someone may be able to help there?

Surely when you're installing it it asks you to specify a folder to install to? Therefore... it'd be there?

Hum. I gather you're using XP? I don't know how different that is to 2k... anyway. Just try searching for various "gif animator" things until you find the right .exe? It's gotta be SOMEWHERE...
