i am running the below PC. I now have 1GB of pc3200 DDR. What should i upgrade (1 piece for the moment) going to turkey in a week and then the oxegen festival. I want to upgrade something to help me in gaming and can only afford like a GFX card, a CPU or a Mainboard. ANd because if i got a AMD64 i'd need a mainboard would it be worth getting a 3200+ tbred socket A instead? I think the 9600pro should hold up with a better mobo/cpu combo. What dya think?

If it was me, I would go with graphics card first, then mobo and cpu. Although there is no harm seeing if your graphics card suits your needs with an upgraded mobo and cpu.

You should be getting more fps than that.

    Ok I went from a 2400XP + 512mb of ram with a 9800 NP
(40-50 frames video stress test in cs source)

    to

    3500+ amd64, 1 gig of ram and my 9800NP
    (100-110 frames)

CPU makes a huge difference to HL2 and most games.

If you could get a better cpu in socket A then go for it. Bare in mind you will need a 333mhz/400mhz bus speed on your mobo to take the higher cpus in socket A (2500xp and up).

If you have a 266mhz bus you can only go as high as a 2400XP.

TBH if you really want to play HL2 and all the new first person shooters well
save up and get a new 939 + mobo + pci express gfx card.

if the processor is a throubred rev b it will proball do circ. 2000mhz if not more Which is close to 3200+. The 9800 would probal be best but try yhe processor overclock set the multiplier to *11 or 11.5 or 12.

if you go for new m/b and cpu u may as well go pci-e
