MR22 A-Clamp not fitting tank valve

Hoping someone can help me with this.

I have an older model Mares MR22 first stage like this one (Yoke connection):
    Mares2.jpg

I was diving at a centre where their tanks valves had replaceable DIN/Yoke inserts and the valve opening was over to one side. They looked like this one:
    yokecylinder.jpg

Unfortunately the valve wouldn't fit into the A-Clamp of my reg. No other regs had a promlem with these tank valves. At first I replaced the Mares A-Clamp with a Scuba-Pro A-Clamp and still had the same problem. Then I noticed that the nut at the base of the A-clamp which (i believe) holds both the A-Clamp and the filter in place was quite proud(thick/high) and was therefore preventing the valve from fitting into the remaining space in the A-clamp.

Previously, the tanks i've used have the valve opening in line with the central axis of the tank and i've never had any prolems with them.

It is very close to going on, i really just need another millimeter to play with. Anyone got any ideas about what i can do? Oh and just in case you're wondering... i did have the tightening screw fully open. :-)

    update:

Mares have redesigned the crown nut for the MR22 Abyss 1st stage. It can be ordered as a part from Mares and is supposed to solve the problem.

I've ordered it but won't receive it for a few weeks, so i'll let you know then if it works.

    The following text does this.

just remove the dot "." in the part that says [.IMG] so it reads . The link is obviously the link to the image that is hosted somewhere else online.logocopy-479x90.jpg
