If it were that easy and cheap sure we would all be doing this.

You have to pay VRT (Value Related Tax) - 25% on anything up to 1.9 litre and 30% on 2.0 litre or above.

Just to be more specific, the % is worked out on the price of the car in Ireland, not the price you bought it for abroad.

Do you have a Moldovian address ?? If so then you might be able to pull this off.

slim and none. in the past there was a chance but nowadays there is random checkpoints being setup to try curb this.

I've even witnessed them setup checkpoints outside big employers premises during shift changeover, or end of business day to catch the tax dodgers

    (applicable on enquiry date) €52751

If it's anything flash, you'll get snared eventually. They bagged a bunch of pricey cars on the Stillorgan dual carraigeway week before last. VRT is such a huge money-spinner for the government, they'll enforce it quite vigorously. There are work-arounds, though to be honest, I've more or less deduced that it isn't worth the hassle.

yeah, theres no point as the took my friends dads brand new db9 from him as he didnot pay vrt on time. they took his car from the airport carpark. they also took bentleys from there.

the police are on the ball.
