Does anyone happen to know if the prices on Wal Mart's website (walmart.com) are special online prices or the actual in-store prices?
A relative is going over to the US for a holiday and I'm gving her a list of stuff to buy, want to give her as close to the right amount of money as I can.

    Thank

Not really an odd question. The prices quoted are subject to sales tax which can vary from 0% to over 10% which needs to be added to the quoted price. The yanks always quote prices excluding tax.

yeah as bond pointed out add about 10% to the prices and that should cover it, but it depends purely on the state tax rate

http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/sales.html will give you the correct rates state by state.

California is the highest at 7.25% whereas Delaware, Alaska, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no sales tax at all. If purchase across state lines by mail order then there is no sales tax.

Where do you think Ryanair got it from Nosh*tsherlock?

You didn't think that Michael O' Leary actually invented the low-cost airline business model did ya?

Drove me mad ALL the time in the USA - you have precisely what it "costs" counted out before getting to the till then "SURPRISE!".

tbh, think doing that in ireland is illegal as it is false marketing to state one price and then charge more..... also you don't know what has tax and what doesn't in america and sometimes its included.....

    No, really?

    *Shrugs*
Errrr no. Was being sarcastic ( ). Actually I sure Micheal O'Leary probably never invented anything in his life, he just happened to be one of the first to use it successfully in Europe!

These so called low-cost airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet are obviously Southwest clones using the same successful business model but also showing that you still do need a lot of money to make it work.

Slightly off topic but it wouldn't be the same without a b itch about Ryanair..... ;)

I think most of the prices should be the same, I know though that some things are available on line that aren't in the stores (linux pcs for one) so it's possible some prices are different too.

The prices are the same. I often check prices online before I go pick something up at Walmart. I recently got myself a basketball hoop there. If your relative wants to buy cheap clothes or anything non-plastic then they should look for a Target. Walmart is good for cheap stuff but their quality isn't the best.
