Netowrk Packets: question about a game!

Ok, so i play this online game right, and im convinced one of the calculations it performs, it performs locally and then sends the result rather than stressing the server.

So i have two questions

First, I run a Router - PC1(with internet connection sharing) - PC2 setup
I play this game on PC2

What sort of software do i need to read incoming packets from PC2, on PC1, can do it from any pc but I tought doing it from the middle pc would be handiest.

Also is there a way to sort of build a packet and send it?

ehh no actually its not to cheat

if you want to know its because in the mmorpg i play one my mates in my group knows how to customize his emote(a little message that pops up showing an action), i figured he must be doing it this way or something like it anyway.

And second just to proove that its not to cheat, the game is DAoC I cant imagine any way that packet editing would result in any sort of advantage, when its such a slow moving game anyway

In that case, i assume he's actually using an ingame command, as trying to do what you're doing is basically hacking the game. Very complicated, and only worth doing when you're trying to develop a cheat/hack for a game.

Have you read through your manual looking for a command to do what you want? I think i know what you mean, and in Diablo2 you could do it by starting a sentace with the '!' symbol. i.e typing: '!i am hungry' would make the words 'I am hungry' float over your char's head.

some commands to try: useful commands: /help /help emote . useful macro: /macro hello /v Hello %t.

lol mutant fruit, you are right, i automatically assumed the most dificult answer

You see I knew about emotes like /laugh and all those and they cause an animation, but recently the game got an expansion and included more emotes, however unless you have the expansion you dont see the animation and only see the text, so I had assumed he was manipulating the game or something since it was showing no animation nor was it any emote I had seen before

for the sake of anyone interested the emote that was confusing me was /angry :P
