    Bios

    *Naphta*
Original resident and dnb pioneer in Ireland, Naphta is unlocking drum
and bass secrets 24/7 in the studio. The grandmaster's wizardry
    behind
the decks is the stuff of legends.

    *Don Rosco*
Pioneer of Jungle in ireland, Don Rosco has been manning the decks on
Power Fm for 11 years now, currently on Wednesday nights alongside
Stacks. You can catch him DJing all over the country displaying his
Breaks-driven dancefloor sound. In his spare time he co runs Refuge
with Rohan and helps out on a & r duties with the label.

    *Magnetize*
Magnetize is a singular entity presently based in Dublin, Ireland who
has been making and playing out electronic and other music since the
mid 90s both historically at his own clubnight Bling.bling and more
recently in events such as Bleep, Let Loose, Undercurrent,
Neuromantek, Repeater and Ice9.Following appearances on compilations
from Neuromantek in 2002 & the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival in
2003, Magnetize released his debut album 'Biome' on Rimbaud Records in
2004. 'Biome' has been vaguely described as 'ambient-oriented noise
music' and is made up of a layered tapestry of textures, ranging from
drones and soundscapes to looped guitar sounds and radio-wave static.

A one-off live performance of 'audio-based brainwave entrainment' at
Lazybird was also released by Rimbaud in early 2005 as a limited
edition run direct from their website.

Forthcoming in mid 2005 is a dark electro ep, 'Anti-chord', on the UK
label Templedog which will be previewed live for the first time at
Ice9 along with Magnetizes other unreleased and impending electro &
    techno.

    *thatboytim*
Takeover records co-founder and head honcho thatboytim has been involved in music making since his early teens. Raised on DIY punk ethics and a healthy contempt for complacency, Tim was lured to the energy and potential of dance music during the mid-nineties, whilst studying in Scotland. On his return to Belfast, the slump of music into “safe”, “MOR.” tech-house and mindless hard techno left him disenchanted, so soon after being filled with excitement for this new music form.

By 2000 Tim had had enough and started writing tracks with friends The Rare Lowry and Agent Foot using primitive p.c. programs. Takeover records was eventually set up in 2001. Since the “Takeover e.p.” the label has continued to release cutting edge tracks by the crew and their associates, getting plays from the likes of Laurent Garnier, two Lone Swordsmen, Decal, Scape 1, and Dexorcist.

The stagnation in Belfast was the catalyst for much of this initial phase, but wasn’t enough to sustain it. By the end of 2000 Tim had relocated to Dublin to further pursue his vision of electrofunk, tech-soul, and punk electronix.

Tim’s’ genre-busting DJ sets span the spectrum from reggae, hip hop, rock, and funk, to electro, breaks, techno, drum and bass, and anything else in between. You can catch him in Hogan’s Bar every Thursday, on powerfm.org most Sunday evenings, or at many of the city’s’ electro and techno clubs.
Look out for Takeover#6 – Takeover Sound presents lowslung – feat. thatboytim, redmonk, ed devane, merf, and secret society. Coming soon…
