Yeah - this has been around for awhile - was on Engadget a couple of months back and other places before that...

Still, it's pretty impressive and truly a very simple idea but quite difficult to do it right :).

Very nicely done, I think this would best fit in the "photoshopping" forum, however.

I would love to have the ability to turn my laptop screen opaque or transparent and all the levels inbetween, though I cant see there being much call for it... whats the advantage? none really other than a 'looks purdy' factor.

    How would it work?
A camera on the front of the laptop taking an image and setting it as wallpaper maybe???

You would just take away the laptop/screen, take a photo of what's behind it, and then cut it down to the appropriate size using photoshop or some other other image editor, and make it your background. You'd probably also want to use photoshop to try matching the colour levels, you could see that they'd done it in some of the photos but not in others, the ones they had done it on looked much better. The only real problem with this is that it'd only look right from one perspective.

The last image is the best one I think, where his had goes behind the calculator on the screen.
