Dragonball z, is it still a strong anime?

Well with the many new animes that are out, such as Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Hellsing, etc. There seems to be less and less interest in the dragonball series. I love the dragonball series even to this day, but it seems to be losing followers. Look at the dbz sites, Dragonball City is now turning into Naruto City, Many of the Dragonball sites are being closed down, due to the fact of lost interest. This could also affect the sales of Dragonballz, i for one am a big fan, but have hardly any stuff of it, because its becoming less and less popular where i live. So what i want to know is, are you all still intrested in it?

    Thank You

It's a dodgily scripted kids cartoon and always has been (even before Funimation got hold of it) and any loss of interest in it can only be a good thing. Maybe its disappearance will open up slots on tv for more entertaining shows like "The International Grass Painting Championships"

...but that's just my opinion.

I often cry myself to sleep because of the 10 or so minutes that I was interested in it. In my opinion, they should close all of them down. :)

they are SO much fun to draw! big hair and baggy trousers that go up well past the waist!
I think it's only really the english speaking one that sucks, Jap ones are cool and its even fun waching it in Spanish and only recognizing the word ''kameh-hame-ha'' (which is an odd word in itself...)

Dragonball is like "Der Ring des Nibelungen" or Deep Space Nine. Very extended saga-like structure, driven by very slow character development and evolution. You either love it or hate it.
This could also affect the sales of Dragonballz, i for one am a big fan, but have hardly any stuff of it, because its becoming less and less popular where i live.

With the recent releases of the Dragonboxes and Kanzenban, Dragonball is garnering within the top five for anime revenue in Japan. (Of course it is still well below One-Piece)

I watch the Dragonball saga from day one, from the first Dragonball episode to the last Dragonball GT one. I was waking up every wednesday when I was a kid just to watch Dragonball. Even if the story line is a little "I am going to kill you for the next 24 episodes and then I will kill your friend within at least 54 episodes" I still believe that it had positive aspect:
    - Dragonball is the anime that opened the door wide open for the anime phenomena outside Japan. Remember that Dragonball Z was one of the first anime to have so much success in America which opened the doors to a lot of anime and spread the joy to others
    - The manga was far better than the anime because it didn't have this "length" issue mainly because the main issue with the DB anime were the "fillers" and also the fact that it was necessary because they couldn't make the anime before the mange itself!
    - If you look at the anime, you need to know that Toriyama originally wanted to close the chapter after Freeza died but was forced by the Toei to continue, so after Freeza, Akira was probably in lack of inspiration as he didn't want to continue.
    - A lot of new anime are vaguely based on the same principles as Dragonball ... I won't name any because I do not want to have any enemies here ;) but the quest for something that will give you power, a hero with a force that grows episodes after episodes, friendship ... if you look at it they all seem pretty usual stuff but if you compare all the other anime and check the ones that are based on the same principles you'll probably be surprised.
    - Oda, the writter of One piece is a TOriayma fan ... and that in itself from one of the best selling manga writter at the time, I say that it is something :D

Alright, that was my point ...

And a well made point it was! It wasn't the first anime I saw but it was what got me into it, plus you have to admit when Goku first goes super saiyan it's cool (gets kinda old hat after that though). I always thought it was real funny how they spent about 3 sagas till Goku did it and he was an adult and then Goten does it just by seeing it done :D , that's gotta sting Son!

Well I guess it has to do with the time that the kids were conceived ;) Goku was Baddack' son, low-class fighter on Vegeta planet, so he was not strong naturally (Saiyan wise of course, not human :D), Gohan was born after Goku defeated Picollo (both Daddy and Son :D) and had the training from God, so Gohan was born even stronger that when Goku was his age ... then Goten was "created" during more or less the Cell Game, at that Stage Goku was more or less a Super Saiyajin 2 at that stage so Goten took that from him ... in theory it really is how it happened in Toriyama's head I guess because both Gohan and Goten were unaware of their power which leads us to believe that this is inherited from the family tree and not coming from training like Goku ;) well it's theory but it might be true :D

I fell its dying out mainly because dragonball was pretty awful with next no cool bits in it.dragonball gt was ok but the style in drawing voice changes form z was a bit too much.this part of dragonball had its moments but was not half as good as z.dragon ball z in my oponion was a master piece the fusion sagas buu and cell sagas and the odd good ep in the namic eps were just deadly.i my self taped all the good ep on tape and now im glad i did cause it is not being aired on sky half as much as it used too in the days it was still going and a few months afterwards

He's right, you know. Nothing screams excitement like two angry people engaged in a 5-episode staring match. Imagine the fun of recreating it on your very own video-game system!

"He's starting to sweat! Hit "X" to counter with a sharp intake of breath!"
