It contains:Applied Ecology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Environmental Plant Biotechnology (formerly Plant Science),Zoology.
So it looks quite sciencey (loads of plant biology)

You can see the exact modules taken here (of course they change the odd one every year)
    http://www.ucc.ie/academic/calendar/science/sci007.html

Then check the details of each individual module here:

    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody has done this course. How did you find it. Tough? Are job prospects good?

    Thanks

ive just accepted this course!! really looking forward to it but cant seem to find much info on it, doubt it's a very popular course!! Allthough im dreading the maths side of it thought i'd escaped all that after doing honours but no just looked up what it entails...sounds hard to say the least!! anybody know if the hours are long and is there a lot of lab work involved after hours?:)

    I accepted it also.

The first semester does not have Earth Science or Environmental Science lectures. Its just the other 6 lectures, of which only two or so are three times a week. The timetable looks fine so far, much easier than the first year computer science timetable. Most science degrees appear to have a lot of hours as far as I have seen.

Hiya, I accepted it too. My friend is going into 2nd yr EnviSci and she loves it. Apparently 1st yr is very broad so you don't need to worry about it being too focused on 1 particular aspect. Then after that you choose what you want to specialise in. Hopefully we'll all be grand....

I'm going into 2nd year Environ and Earth Systems. 1st year is grand but lots to do.Its like doing a broad science course WITH all your geography, geology and earth science etc on top. Lots of hours and loads of labs but I still love the course. The work load is high but you can still pass it WHILE living up first year as long as you make the effort to try to go to as much of your labs, lectures, tutorials and PAL sessions as you can. There's only usually around 80 in your year so its quite closeknit...I've met lots of friends and get along with everyone in my course. Right now I have to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life. Your have to pick which one of the 8 modules you want to persure. There's lots of field trips during the year. If ya liked Geography in school and had an interest in science then this is the course for you. Highly reccomended.

From a career point of view... there are not many options when you come out the other side. Alot of people take the stepping stone to zoology in 2nd year. Again... not alot of options with that either...

You would want to be really really interested and motivated with this course.

How large a part does maths play in this course?
I'm very interested in it, but my maths is terribly weak.
