No idea where to post this. Its not linux/unix or windows so cant go in os. Does anyone know if you can get access to the files stored on a netware server from the console prompt. By that I mean there is a file I need to get and it will fit on floppy. Dont want to go through the hassle of setting it up on our network for the sake of a 100k file. Cheers.

    /edit

will a live distro of linux(eg knoppix) allow me to view the files and even copy them?

Jebus, haven't seen novell in years, I don't think there was a way but there may be a loadable module (I think that's what they were called) that'd let you do it. I don't know about knoppix but I haven't heard of any way it could mount a novell volume. Setting it up on your network may be the simplest option.

    http://www.runtime.org/captain.htm

http://www.novell.com - they do netware and linux - might find something there

PS looks like mount ncpfs is just for netware shares not local partitions

All you have to do is download Novell Client 32 and install it on your win2k or XP client, there are versions available for win9x as well.
You then logon to your NDS context or bindery if using Novell 3.x or earlier.
You can map the network drive and copy the file.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

Novell is a solid file and print server and I prefer NDS over active directory anyday, unfortunately a combination of it reliabilty (you don't really need to upgrade something that works), Microsoft FUD and Novell's own arrogance in the early 90's led to demise in its market share.

The whole point of my post is without using the client 32 and accessing the files from just the server. Looks like im just going to have to set it up on the network. Jesus I am a lazy bastard looking for shortcuts. It will only take half an hour.
