    My Lucky 15 for today...

    2:30 Strike Up The Band
    3:05 Something Exciting
    4:20 Notability
    4:55 Indigo Cat

Might make it a Lucky 31 with Westerner but dont want to bet against Vinnie Roe cos I'd love to see him win it !!

I'm going to avoid York completely today cause i think it will be a day of upsets. Something Exciting SHOULD win, but how often do we say that? She's had a tough season so far and may not handle York so well. She is versatile when it comes to the ground though. I think Secret History will benefit if there's something a miss with the favourite.

I like Strike up the Band for the opener. Dandy Nicholls is master of the sprints and this horse is improving with every race. Classic encounter will follow her home.

The Gold Cup is tricky but the good thing about a race like this is that it's a fairly exclusive trip so we're seeing the same bunch of horses and the form should be there for all to see. There's a bit of money around for percussionist at the minute but he's a risky proposition because he's stepping up a good bit in trip into unknown territory and a lot of his best for is on softer ground...still, Howard Johnston knows his stuff and it wouldn't be a major surprise. As much as I'd love to see Vinne Roe win, I think i'm, going to have to side with Westerner...both impressive stayers but Westerner has a nice turn of foot and would have won this last year had it not been for hitting the front too soon.

Elsewhere today there's a massive plunge on a horse at Wolerhampton....the 2.55 race - Montini Royale...from 66s into 8s. A relative newcomer, the yard obviously think he's alot better then his first outing and probably expect a true performance today...there could have been a good excuse last time...as with everything though, it's all guesswork.

I'm goin with that lucky 15 also, although I don't think Notability or Indigo Cat will come anywhere...

    Cheers though!

    From a decent tipster:
    http://www.free-horse-racing-info.co.uk/

    2.30: Green Park - 15/2 (e/w or win. up to you. Yesterday's tip was a 7/1 winner)

    3.05: Twyla Tharp e/w - 7/1

    4.55: Indigo Cat - 3/1 - NAP!!

That 2:55 race at Wolverhampton is seriously dodgy f2b, the fav is being seriously laid on betfair when it was supposed to be the cert of the week.

*edit* RP still shows the going at York as GD-FM. Surely that wasnt anything near good to firm yesterday?

As Mickey Joe is now top jockey does anyone recommend any of his mounts today?

    OK, for today:

    Large ew double:
    1 16/06/2005 2.30 Royal Ascot at York
(Win and Each Way) Strike Up The Band
    2/1 3 Places 1/4 Odds
    2 16/06/2005 3.05 Royal Ascot at York
(Win and Each Way) Something Exciting
    2/1 3 Places 1/4 Odds

Reasoning being: Both should be there or thereabouts whatever happens. Both should win, and if not the same reason - this dodgy ground, will acount for both of them making singles pointless. Im thinking both will win or neither.

    Small ew single:
    1 16/06/2005 2.30 Royal Ascot at York
(Win and Each Way) Green Park
    8/1 3 Places 1/4 Odds

Form here is on a par with everything other than Strike Up The Band, and represents real value, unless I am overlooking something.

Will see how they go first, have a long day in at work in front of ATR, BBC and RUK ahead of me. Its a hard life.

Eh, call me crazy but when I don't think a horse will come anywhere, I lay it instead of backing it.

The times for yesterday's races were still a bit faster than standard, indicating that it was still good-to-firm. The top of the ground was obviously a bit loose but it must have been firm underneath. A lot of horses don't stride out fully on that type of ground because it just doesn't feel safe to them. It's a "punter beware" type of ground.

I have done that too many times and they have come in. That's why I'm going with them

slight change of plans for Lucky 15 I did at lunch:

    2:30 Strike Up The Band
    3:05 Something Exciting
    3:45 Vinnie Roe
    4:20 Notability

Indigo Cat could be a nut case - one nut case a week is enough for me (Rakti!).

I reckon Strike Up The Band and Something Exciting are certs - i've done a €20 double on those.
I put a small few quid e/w on Wolfe Tone in the Gold Cup. He is certainly on the up but the distance is an unknown. Should be interesting race.

The ground is the big question mark - so no big bets today !!

They also got 7/1 e/w winner yesterday and a nap winner yesterday. I'll be putting big money on their tips tomorrow. I'll post them up as soon as they're up.
