Does anyone have any idea of the rough cost of an external door (mahogany, teak, oak etc.)
This cost is for supply only (standard door size)
I called 3 places today but to no avail...

    Hi Goll,

A standard only, no furniture fitting or frame , could be bought from some hardware stores for as little as 100 euro's.

You need to make sure the door is constructed with mortice and tenon joints, as these tend to be stronger than dowelled constructioin. If you look at the edge of the door you should see the tenons.

Standard doors from hardware stores, are generally cheaper than joinery produced doors. The cheaper doors used to be manufactured in Malaysia, but would be of a lesser quality than a joinery produced door

    Front door screen.
Complete door, frame, locks, handles, knocker , letterbox, excluders, hinges, woolpiles, nightlatch, security locks , spyhole, with sidelights, will probably cost in the region of 1500-2000 euros, depending on type.

Dublin door store would be a good source of cheaper types of doors. I know of a joinery that used to buy from them, and then sell them as own produce. He could not make them cheaper himself.

Thanks a million KADMAN, the Dublin Door Store sounds good.

We have to replace our own front door as we have just had some new windows fitted at the front of the house and as the saying goes they are "laughing" at the old door.

€100 sounds good as we have the frame in place at the minute.

Just make sure that you get a door suitable for external use. Some engineered/laminated doors are unsuitable for outside use.
