TV Tuner card issues

I bought THIS off KOMPLETT.ie and I am having trouble getting stations 'tuned' in.

It comes with Gemstar's Guide+ TV guide, which looks for a postal code to determine which cable services are in your area, as we don't have a post code system I am a little stuck, has anyone else had any experiance of this kinda thing?

Also the card can tune in tv without using the guide above, it cycles through channels 1 - 999, so far it has only picked up channel 4, E4 and the discovery channel, it seems to work ok up to about channel 300 or so and then just skips through the rest all the way up to 999.

any help or ideas would be appericated.

I've never used the card, but their might be an antenna and cable channel scan option, use both, even if you're only using cable.

I have tried scanning on both cable and antenna settings, still the same results ie; just the 3 channels mentioned above.

Starting to get annoyed, no matter what I do I can't seem to get any further

I should note that this card has a silicon tuner (philips) and Ireland is a default country in the NVTV card setup, origionally I thought that maybe it has something to do with VHF / UHF.

For my Hauppauge TV Card I googled around and discovered I could find the exact frequencies of the channels on the NTL website and then enter them manually in the setup for the card.

I then went a step further and used something like FreqCopy to copy the channels into the registry (can't remember how - have a google).

    ditto....

what's the point of copying the channels into the registry....

c4, e4 and discovery are by far the weakest signals i have on my tv card

Same as RuggieBear... I have two TV tuners in the same PC and C4/E4/Discovery are always the weakest signals, even with a cable booster in the loop.

The Hauppauge Win TV PVR 250 I have, has no problem tuning in the basic NTL pack channels. My other card, the Compro Videomate II+ Gold has an option called "Use Default Channel Table" in the TV tuning options - when I first installed the card, I never checked this option and tuning only ever found 2-3 channels at best. Maybe your XFX has something similar?
