As far as I know it uses the same 1.3 VVTi engine found in the Yaris. It shares alot of parts with the Yaris.

Should be good if Suzuki Sport bring in a performance version maybe 4wd with a small capacity turbo engine...

Cannot see them selling a GTi version here due to the cost of VRT and insurance.

I think they will try and target volume sales of bread and butter models which most manufacturers do in Ireland.

Sure thats the same old story with Ireland, sure look at some of the car nissan offers in Japan. Cars that could rival a top of the line 5 series for base 3 series money...

To my knowledge Toyota own a percentage of Suzuki as well as Daihatsu.

And it is not unusual for large car manufacturers to sell engines to their rivals. Ford buy most of their common rail diesel engines from Peug/Citroen. The same 1.6 HDi engine is in the Ford Focus, Citroen C4/C5, Peug 307/ 407, Mazda 3 and Volvo S40.

The BMW Mini uses the 1.4 diesel engine found in the Yaris and Corolla. Toyota also sell the Celica 1.8 engine to Lotus for their Elise.

Peug launch the 107, Citroen the C1 and Toyota the Aygo city cars soon, they are all basically the same car with different badges but it was cheaper to co-develope them than go it alone but still the cars will compete against each other.

i knew about daihatsu now being owned by toyota, and they being their new budget market cars, but suzuki
i'd say iot still take at least 5 years for suzuki to become accepted as a good mainstream car because with cars like the liana, i cant see how they can be takin tat seriously over here in europe

anyone ever see the suzuki liana ad on tv with the magician?

Tasty little motor, I'd consdier one but with a 1.5 litre engine and so on its got the potential of turning into a little neoned up boy racer job. Although this one looks nice.

Have to say - at a very very quick glance at the above pic - it looks like the a suped up new Mini!
The side windows being very straight along the top! The windscreen almost exactly the same shape and size....and the shape of the car in general is not too unline the Mini......If the lights at the front were round id say some people would be scratching their heads!!! :)

I agree.......dont know how anyone can consider a car smaller than say a Golf, Focus (that class) to be SAFE!

IMO id much rather buy a bigger car (2nd if you havent the dough) for the comfort of knowing you have a better chance of survival if something goes wrong on the road!

I know insurance is a major problem and engine size (tax etc).....but i cant get my head around how people go out and buy new Fiat Seicento's, Cinquecento's, (or any car that kinda size) and then put a babies seat in it! Beyond me!! :(

4 star safety rating isnt at all bad a good match for wats already out there

I'd really prefer if people didn't need to consider cars with NCAP 4 stars over the average deathtrap. It'd be good if people didin't crash them, it'd be easily done if everybody tried.

Although you need the biggest highest rated safest thing you can afford because everyone else is driving them, I think it was fifth gear they put an four star espace into a slightly older espace and the NCAP one tore through the other like a hot knife through butter, its occupants would have suffered mild whiplash, the other vechile had three definitate fatalities or something.

Yeah i heard about that.......the 2 Éspaces that were crashed!
Something like a gap of 5 years and the new one folded up nicely and all the passengers were safe and sound!........just would have been woken from a lil snooze! :D

Apart from the driver of course who had his crash dummy eyes on the road! :D

i agree with all u got to say there
    but its in our culture
was only talkin to an australian girl yesterday who sid they got road safety officers in auss who do up ad campaigns in their local areas and visit highschools aetc to educate these ppl and i guess inject fear in them too
    good idea
the auss seems to take road safety very seriously
but the swedes are out on top-with the lowest road deaths in the world-desite in being dark over their so much -a credit to them
and on top of tat they changed their road system from one that used to drive on the right to one that now drives o the left
to introduce such a radical change and still have the lowest road fatalities is nothing short of amazing!
    unreal
