Some colleges post lists of the student numbers of people who've passed their exams on the internet. Does UCD do this?

Ive heard rumours that the arts results come out up to a week early, is that true?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

In general results come out earlier than the stated dates. Think they were about a week early last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,010 ✭✭✭besty

my results were out this time last year but they arent scheduled to be out til the 27th this year. Im gonna check stuweb once a day just in case. good luck everyone

first arts results were out around the 11th last year.

My friend saw one of our English lecturers recently and she said that the 2nd Arts results will be out on the 28th.

im just gonna check from next week onwards.

be nice to know as soon as possible what way my summer lies.

Ours were out nearly 2 weeks early last year, i'd really love to see them and get it over with!

They're usually out earlier on SIS. If I'd been in the country I could have gone into college, signed a disclaimer and gotten mine on Friday, but now I have to wait until Tuesday the 21st to get them cos the lecturer who gives them out is away or something! I want my results :p Only about half my class were around to get them, but they all seem to have done really well which is great :) Now I'm just waiting...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Part of me doesn't want the results. It's funny cos during the year I didn't give a sh*t about UCD and couldn't care less what happened to me yet, after doing the exams, I've realised I'd actually like to stay at UCD. To fail would mean that I would likely drop out and apply for another course and I'd be a first year all over again.

If I fail my exams it would probably be the most disappointing moment of my life so far. :(

I think most of the class got them, had a half-decent night in D2 as well, but i say we get proper smashed when we get the specific results.

I myself don't actually want my results. I'm enjoying summer too much and it hasn't even started yet and getting my results where I know I failed at least one subject will ruin it all. Ah knowing myself I'll be a big sucker and check SIS in a minute or two

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,608 ✭✭✭breadmonkey

Do you need to know your exam number to get your results?

    No. Student number.

It was just for final years I think, so that we'd have some notice before our graduation! (ours in on pretty early compared to other courses)

Really? Ah no I hate missing nights out, although i agree there should be a big big party when they come out officially! I think Blackrock guy was planning on having a house party or something - not sure about that though.

Your results seem very good. You didn't fail anything so your place in UCD next year doesn't seem in doubt. Well done on that 90% as well.

How come yours are out now? Is that before the original time that was set? I've checked for mine and they're still not out yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,635 ✭✭✭tribulus

mine are out today too :D
don't know how to censor things like zap there so here:

    final grades
biology 1H chemistry 1H comp science 2H1 Maths pass!!!

:D:D:D:D:D  fukin chuffed thanks again rainbow kirby and blondie for the help!!!

edit: actually i'm confused too, someone explain, mine looks the same as zaps

dunno it says june 21 on the exams page, some ppl i know didn't pass so the exams pages says form for re-entry must be sumbitted 3 weeks after results appear on stu web is that 3 weeks from offical date they were supposed to be published or 3 weeks from when they were actually published?

another q i spent half my maths exam getting sick so i only scraped a pass is it worth the effort in repeating it?

Only if you needed more than a bare pass.
And... alls I know is that I passed Japanese. 78%. :D

So your results were meant to be out on the 21st and came out today? I'm gonna hope that means 1st arts due on the 22nd will be out tomorrow! Though I know I'm reading far too much into it and it's unlikely. I just wanna know!

you have got to wait until the exam board meets for your dept/faculty and since your doing an arts degree that's alot of exams and candidates to go through so it will prob be a while yet, prob next week.

The percentages are your overall results. Well done tribulus, those are some really good grades!

thanks :) but the thing is the percentage beside maths is 57% which is an honours isn't it? yet it says PASS?:confused:

edit: ahhh marks and standards explained it for me, you have to do the higher maths course to be eligible for honours...duh

for my overall grade for the year it says PASS as well, does it just say pass or fail or can it say 1H 2H1 etc. just it says pass for me cus i did pass maths?????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

probably is. I know when I was in 1st year I did honours maths  and my result said "1 Science faculty result: 1H"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,635 ✭✭✭tribulus

fcuk that!!! it says 66.2% for the years overall grade so as far as i'm concerned i got a 2H1 for the year not a pass

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

    :D
And a damn good grade it is too.
Because I only did the Japanese exam, my total grade for the year is 7.8%. :D

Why would you do that??? I don't think you're allowed to have a second chance to get a better mark if you passed already. Anyway, it doesn't matter what your marks are AT ALL in 1st Science, just as long as you've passed!

I can't believe you were even considering the idea of repeating to get a higher mark!! That would be a pointless excercise!

Big time congrats Science Boy but honestly the Bio and Chem results are not a surprise. However only a 2H1 in a subject that has the word ''Science'' in it? That is shocking beyond belief. I'm going to make sure that you attend all of your 9:00 lectures next year. You slacking big time. Discipline will prevail!

Anyway well done. At least there will be at least 1 person remaining in UCD from our old school next year!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,635 ✭✭✭tribulus

cheers zane :D sure you've only one subject and two months to study for it, you're sorted. Dunno about any of the other lads, can't see them doing too well!!!

Jaysus you've been quick with the old 2nd year timetables haven't you!

Eh well I think Mr. Jam and Flynn won't be back, Quiff Boy has turned into a complete dosser in second semester so is looking dodgy, Belgian Boy sid nothing for that crappy Sports Management joke of a course, but the rest of the crew should be grand.... at least I think and with possible couple of repeat additions next year we'll still be flying the flag of the best basketball school in the entire of Ireland! :)

Nah I'm still playing the waiting game - waiting game sucks :p I remember that button so well - last year a few people had got internships for the Summer, so we built up this mad big netwok of email addresses to "chat" to each other during the day from our various offices. Anyway we heard the results were coming out on this Friday, so spent the whole day just checking, and checking again, and basically rechecking every 2 minutes or so - the f**kers waited untill 6 o'clock that evening before they put them up!

I used to do REAL Denom Comp Sci and REAL Chemistry (with some less real math, french and business) in a horrible dual honours 32+ hours classes + 6 hours labs per week (not incl study or assignments)....

...then i discovered sex, drugs and rock 'n roll.

Frankly, it's been on the up and up since then :D

ah stupid 2nd Comp + Geography won't be up for ages! ah well hope i won't go back but good ol' exam insurance should help me here in canada if worst comes to worst, but i'm a good 70% dure i'm in the clear, maybe i'll come back for the weekend to see chemical brothers and under world ..... hmmmm.

Why would you do that to yourself? Comp Sci is easy enough to bluff your way through! :D Or so was my impression of the exams...! Can't drop it now, trying to get to 4th year!

Perhaps thats why I manage to be in about 8 hours a week tops... :D;) And thats a struggle :p

    Half your what now? :)
I struggle to go to any lectures, I lose interest quickly if I do go, and leave. Thankfully i've been ok with how I've studied in the previous years, hoping it pays off this year too :D

    I WANT MY RESULTS! :)
