Hire Purchase / Credit options?

    I'm looking to buy a new laptop, budget of about €1300, but I need to buy it by hire purchase or credit as my finances, whilst being liquid, are not up to that amount of stress atm. I'm looking for a machine I can bring to college, program on, game on (at a reasonable level, I'm not talking hl2 on full performance here, just a few decent lan games), and most importantly, that has a decent warranty.

    So basically what it comes down to is;
    Does anyone know anywhere that does credit payment options that I can still customize/have a wide range of machines with?

    Could you not get a credit union or some other loan? My instinct is it would be far cheaper (APR from some of these places is scary high), and it would let you buy from whom ever you choose.

    Having said that there is nothing worse than paying back for a laptop that cost €1300 in 3 years time when it is either non existant, or at best worth a fraction of what you paid for it.

    Maybe buy an el cheapo laptop (Dell outlet have them for less that 400 from time to time), and forsake the games until the finances are better, then sell your el cheapo in 6mths and buy a more serious machine. If you can buy for €400 you wont loose much on a buyandsell sale; and if people really pay the prices people ask there you might even make a few bob!!

    get a student loan from the bank (depends on your credit) because there APR is better than hire purchase, i got a 12 month loan on 1200 and im only paying 80 to 100 euro a month.

    Finance is only a reasonable option when you pay over 1 year max. It usually works out at around 10%. It pretty much double year on year after that, so not good.
